Thoughts on Jon Olsson

I don’t really have much of any thoughts about Jon Olson at all, tbh. Maybe Henrik is his estranged Bastard, I watched GOT- seems plausible.

fuckin badass. i don't watch his vlog or anything but he can do whatever the hell he wants, he's already put in so much work to the skiing world.

back in the day he was a scrappy badass and was one of the first to do shit like sw misty 9s, sw 10s, unnatty rails, he never looked out of control even when doing new tricks, he made dubs cool again, he made JOSS and JOI which were huge events in park skiing's development, he hit chad's switch with tanner and came *this* close to stomping sw misty 9 on it, blah blah blah

i just wish he'd gotten into big mtn shredding instead of racing and cars and shit but whatever it's his life

Honestly, Olsson really capitalized on his fame as a skier and did what a lot of others couldn’t.

There isn’t much to make money on once you hit the forties, not like your still doing XGames/Dew Tour. He branches out and now has a massive following on YouTube, lives the life, has a beautiful wife.

I think if you despise him you are low key jealous of his life... shit I am.

He actually has a good big mountain segment in Seven Sunny Days, the MSP movie that came out in the fall of 2007. He also won a big mountain contest in Sweden, I forget what it is called. Jon can definitely ski big mountain. But I do agree that I wish he had focused on that after he was done with park instead of going into racing. Don't get me wrong, I love racing, but it would have been cool to see what Jon could do if he really dedicated himself to big mountain. Henrik Windstedt and Jon were always lumped together, both Swedish guys who made enough money to make it worth it to move to Monte Carlo. I always liked Henrik better because he was a better big mountain skier. Henrik became one of the best big mountain skiers in the world, he won the FWT in 2008 and his segments in In Deep, The Way I See It and Attack of La Nina are nuts. He has not been as visible lately, but Henrik is on the short list of the best skiers ever to step foot on the planet. Jon could ski big mountain, and he had great technical ability on skis. I completely agree that it would have been nice to see him go that route. But whatever, the guy still did a ton for skiing. I remember seeing someone on here trying to say that Tom Wallisch had more talent on skis than Jon. People can define Talent how ever they want, but I would strongly disagree with that statement. Jon was a great park skier, an excellent big mountain skier, and a racer who might have been able to go to the Olympics if he had not gotten into park skiing. Wallisch is great in the realm of park and urban, but he definitely does not check all those boxes.

I was in Monte Carlo for a few days in the summer of 2016. It was fun. The clubs and casinos were a blast, the food was good, and the women were insanely hot. I can see why a young, good looking pro skier with millions would want to spend his off-seasons there. If there were only waves there it would be even better.

oh dude i agree 100%-- i wish jon had done (more) big mtn because he obviously could have been such a beast at it, and yes, henrik is one of the all around sickest skiers on the planet. he and permin are two of my favorites

i didn't know or didn't remember he did big mtn in SSD, i'll need to check that out! thanks man

He invited a team of kids from NS to JOSS and put us up to compete against the best there was. So yea. I think he's pretty fucking cool.

I saw a pair of 2009 head Jon olsson pro models this past weekend and I was instantly made jealous of the g rocking the skis and Jon for having the most pimp pro model ski ever. I guess he’s pretty good at skiing too. If anyone has 2009 Jon olsson pro models with a half decent top sheet hit me up

The vast majority of pro skiers (other than 3-4) from his heyday are now pretty much unknowns. I think it's cool he has kept his momentum going with new stuff even if it's not skiing. Although I will say that most of his vlogs have turned into pointless materialism at this point.
