Those good times

I was recently thinking about friends I used to have, music I used to listen to and the emotions associated with differant events in my life. It seems to me that around middle school when I didn't know much about the world was when I had the most fun discovering new things, especially skiing, and had a lot of good memories.

I guess what I'm wanting to get to is that I had a ton of fun as a noob in the skiing world and other areas of life, and have a lot of good memmories associated with that. When it was a big deal to 50/50 a box or land a 360, that was the best time in my life because the higher levels of skiing seemed amazing and unnatanable.

By the title of this thread I dont simply mean those good speciffic times in ones life, but those feelings that seem to have gone away like the sheer amazement at things in the world that dosent seem to exist anymore.

Has anyone else on NS experianced nostalgia not for things but for emotions? A longing for the outlook you once had? Not that the one you have now is bad, but it's just differant? Has anyone missed missed their noobishness when the world seemed so big?

So you peaked in middle school?

I said I was a noob in middleschool but I kinda miss that. It was cool to see how much better everything would soon be when I got older and now it is, but the world just seems smaller.

I know exactly what you're talking about, and I think puberty really has alot to do with it. With hormones running rampant and people evolving, there's always a new concept of life you discover. Whether it's girls, or sports, or getting a curfew lifted, theres always something new.

I remember back when I was 14-15, the allure of freedom was so great. We spend the first 13 years of our lives under our parents wing, and now we get to explore a little. I remember how excited we would get on school trips where we stay at hotels, because it meant time away from the rents and we get to be the bosses of ourselves. The transition from kid-teen obviously has alot of shitty parts too, but I know what you mean when you say you looked at the world different.

But honestly, I'm looking through rose tinted glass. Late highschool and college have been the tits compared to earlier years

Yeah man, but It's kinda like since that stuff has been open to me for so long, everything seems smaller without the mystery and limits around it. Couldnt agree more with what you said too.
