how is making racer skis 'untrue' to the 'movement'? i got news for you, just because your skis have turned up tails, you're not Che Guevara, and you're not rebelling against the man.

The movement that Jay Levinthal is in is the 'make money selling skis and not go out of business' movement. Yes, making good twin tips is their primary focus, but they can't exactly do that if they ain't makin any money.

they're more for the pivogy bindings than the actual skis......

if you have the bindings (i do) then you can just buy the carver skis, and have twin tips, and save $ on a 2nd pair of bindings and mounting!

i never knew there were so many racers on newschoolers. at least they can lay down some sic power turns through the groomers. props.

 
I raced. cant really say to your parents 'hey mum, i gotta go ride the park for a week so can you shout me, and im gonna need you to tell my school that im gonna need 3 extra weeks off to ride park aswell' racing was the perfect cover plus you can't beat the adrenaline rush and as if the technical training can be bad for your skiing.

You should also explain to them how selling 1 pair of normal downhill skis and like 6 or more jib oriented twin-tip skis strays 'from the idea of the rider owned newschool company'. Apparently selling that ski makes J Lev stop being both a rider and owner?

On the other hand, you could always just buy skis from a company that in addition to skis, also makes items like tennis rackets, hiking shoes, roller blades, mountain bikes, and snowboards. Those companies are all way more core and 'true to the movement' than that poser Line company.

yeah, but skiboarding is just the first step into newschool skiing for those who dont know how to ski. they buy a pair and do stupid shit, then they realize its stupid shit and they buy skis.

as far as I know the real money makers for the big players like salomon and Rossi are the contracts they have with mountains to sell them new rental skis every few years.

if you have ever heard Jason L's explanation, it makes perfect sense. not one person has mentioned it though. what he is doing is putting a twin tip name on an all mountain ski. after people like the ski,. he is hoping they will get a slightly twined ski, like the mavericks. this will get more people into our sport. he says it a whole lot better but that is pretty much exactly why he is doing it
