im sorry but i love kendricks music as much as the next guy even since he went by k dot but GKMC is definitley not the new illmatic. yeah its good. pretty fuckin good. but have you listened to section.80? every song is great besides 1 (no make-up) and its not even that bad. sorry for the rant but tons of people say its this generations illmatic. i think kendrick definitley did some greatness but with section 80 not GKMC. any one else in same boat?

It took me a few listens to really appreciate section.80, I think its the same story for GKMC

Honestly I didn't really appreciate Illmatic until probably my fourth time listening, same with Section .80, and I'm on my third front to back of Good Kid M.A.D.D. City as we speak. I don't think it's as good as Illmatic, But I sure think it's one of the most comparable albums for our generation, so I actually sort of agree with the statement, it's an instant classic. Kendrick killed it.

just go listen to a.d.h.d. , ronald Reagan era, and fuck your ethnicity. Those 3 songs off of section.80 are better than the entire GKMC album

i like how one idiot comparing it to illmatic makes it "overrated". its such a solid album. its some of the best hip hop I've heard in the last two years no doubt

one of the best rap albums of that past little while imo. but i don't know if i would compare it to illmatic. as someone else said it is an instant classic though

Trust me, I've listened to those songs a lot, but as an entire album GKMC has a deeper meaning/ better message and theme. And the lyrical content is crazy.

I completely disagree. Sure section.80 was great (don't get me wrong I love it) But I feel like GKMC is just on a whole new level. Something I can't fully understand until I listen to it about 50 times through. It tells a story, you gotta listen to the whole thing through. Bottom line, GKMC is a dope LP with a lot of heart. It took real guts to release this kind of record on a major label in 2012.
