Then you should wait for Staal, Spezza, and Crosby to develop before you compare them, as well... And honestly, Kovalchuk too, he's not much older and he's already a lot better and always has been. After watching that video, I thought 2 things:

1. American hockey announcers lick fucking nuts. I'm sorry you're used to calling baseball where you can talk about random bullshit and not get caught off guard with a goal, but in this sport, things HAPPEN OCCASIONALLY. PAY ATTENTION YOU DUMB TWATS.

2. A similar highlights package for Pavol Datsyuk would have been roughly 2.331 times as impressive.

Which isn't to say Ovechkin isn't good... he's amazing... he's just being overhyped here.
 
As much as I love Crosby because he is Canadian, I think Ovechkin is going to win rookie of the year, I have said this since the first game of the NHL season, and no one believed me that he would, that vid says it all (and the stats), to bad they both have to play for shitty teams...

i like ovetchkin (sp) because he can hit and score crazy ass goals, but mostly cause of the hits.

one thing i will say though is it wasn't exactly a 'HOLY MOLY OMG WOW type goal'. those are the fast paced ones when everyone gets up and screams. it was more like 'wtf? what just happened? lemme see the replay' the goalie also had pretty much all the path cut off aswell.. just that tiny space between the post and stick. yikes.
 
Forseberg is one of the best players the NHL will see for a while. He was agile, great stickhandling, and he meant business. Naslund was also a ridiculous player.

But I HATE Tie Domi. Fucking fag has never cleanly hit someone. Always from behind or throw an elbow into their faces.
 
To all the people that are saying that he is cocky and a bitch. If I were that good at a sport I would be at least a little cocky. It is fun to be cocky when you can back it up. So I am trying to say that he is good enough to be cocky. and what an amazing player.
 
I know this because I've watched him play internationally for the last 5 years and despite his undeniable skill he has a long history of playing in fairly typical Russian fashion. I don't like stereotypes so I generally try to avoid using them but I've watched Russia play internationally for too long not to have developed a rather serious distaste for the way many of them play hockey. I don't mean to bash all Russian players by any means but Russia has a definite trend of producing very talented but massively arrogant hockey players and arrogance is not a trait that I myself admire.
 
its not only hockey players who r arrogant, we r talking about russians... in general russian people are pretty damn arrogant and rude. I'm bashing on russians right now... and I know it from experience cause im russian myself and i lived there for 15 years before i moved to canada.
 
haha YES, i remember that hit.

i saw naslund walk through the defense during the dallas game (i was there), he didn't score (obvious if you watched it) but it was still damned impressive.
 
doesnt look like he has much of a backhand, he had plenty of chances to use it but ened up doing a complete 180 to use his forehand

shit didn't nkow he threw the body like that. no bitch like crosby. but it was kinda funny how they showed a bunch of his useless moves that got him no where and then it just cut out after he shot it right at the goalie or way way wide or passed off. kinda like bertuzzi. that bastard is good, never tries. likes punching people in the back of the head thopugh
 
I'm not down with the crosby bashing (just you wait if you're not impressed yet) but you summed up my feelings on Bertuzzi quite well, he's driving me fucking crazy. All he's good for are brief moments of brilliance followed by immediate disappointment (not to mention an incredible knack for taking us off the power play by taking rediculously lazy and unnecessary penalties). Oh and Lindens hit is still one of the sweetest things I have ever seen to this day.
