This Christmas, give the gift of Tell a Friend Tour

In the next 24 hours, over 700 people will look at this thread. (I hope, anyway.)

If each of those 700 people donates five bucks to Andy Parry's Tell a Friend Tour, they will bring the gift of the Tell A Friend Tour to the East Coast this winter.

If they don't donate, Andy's concept will falter, he'll get all moody and pissed off, probably get a job painting, and you'll never ever get to see him progress skiing to a new level of awesomeness and, eventually, win Olympic gold in Wizard Skiing (scheduled to debut in 2022).

But help Andy reach his goal and bring back an awesome tour to the East Coast. If you live in the East, you'll be gifting yourself an awesome day of shredding with Andy and friends at a resort near you. If you don't live in the East, you'll be supporting a tour concept that is, quite simply, the realness.

Donate here. You won't regret it.

I'll giveaway some sticker packs / Yearbooks for those who prove they have donated!

I've personally given $150 -- time for you to do your part and let Newschoolers hook you up.

the skiing industry is weird, or at least some companies are. hyper expensive lift tickets and equipment but magically no money for the actual skiers

im impressed that you guys are trying to get this 3500 together but why is it that random skiers are footing the bill for what could be described as a walking, talking, video-making advertisement for andy's sponsors?

Andy's sponsors aren't putting on the Tell A Friend Tour; Andy is. Any sponsors being represented on the tour will be tour sponsors, not Andy's sponsors.

Long story short: if the Tell A Friend Tour was about a walking, talking, video-making advertisement for one company or another- it would already be paid for and excessively branded. That is not the focus of the tour--at least, not until Andy finds a big corporate sponsor to pay for everything and the kitchen sink.

But for now, it's by the people, for the people. And there's nothing wrong with that.

well, i think your answer is agreeable mostly, but i didn't specify tour vs his sponsors (especially as they will/would be the same companies)

regardless of how you classify what's going on, and what the primary purpose of it is, it seems odd that the companies that will inarguably benefit (source: the world's most successful companies put millions into advertising research every year, advertising works, period) aren't footing the bills rather than the altruism of the average park skier

im not attacking anyone or any entity. i guess what i should have said is that if i were andy, i would do some research and approach my sponsors asking for them to invest in the tour a small amount because the gained utility for them vs how much they put into it would be a large ratio

i fully support the "by the people for the people" notion but shit idk, if i were the companies who are getting nearly free advertising out of this id be thinking well great guys thanks for sending the bill to skiers rather than us

/cynical interpretation of the situation

the people have spoken and they are disgusted by Andy.... Serious though give some damn money, all he wants to do is make children happy.

Andy is the man, let's make this happen!

I'm sure he is, although you'll have to meet him in person for that. I heard the van was spotted at Buttermilk this morning.

Keep donating folks- at least 5 NSers have already donated close to $500 today! Keep it up and make this East Coast tour happen.

PS: I only had $1.44 on my visa gift card but it wouldnt let me do the 44 cents..

i bought a hat off of him last week and im pretty sure it helped fund. if i have some extra money left over from christmas shopping ill throw in some extra :)

hopefully in years to come this will get big enough that he'll be able to make trips to canada!

Please donate so Andy can afford to spend his personal money on new socks and not this tour. Seriously.

Obviously not, it's a east cost your thing.

And hopefully I can donate tomorrow! We'll see

I'm in AK too. And ill try and donate tonight guys, depends on fit mom lets me borrow her paypal

I understand your concerns.

Line, Orage, and Ski The East are helping me out to help fund the project, along with the sponsor gear that I'm giving away with donations. This is only the 2nd year of TAFT it hard for a company to shell out big money. Budgets are budgets, and working something new into the mix takes a few years. Line Traveling Circus was tested for a few years to really see if it was a viable marketing technique that was worthy of a legit budget. This is just how it works and its more then fair.

That being said I'm positive that Tell A Friend Tour will make the grade and the RallyMe will be a one time thing. Not only is RallyMe a source of crowed funding for people but it is also a marketing campaign to help rise awareness for the tour. Its also another thing I can bring to sponsors next year and say, "Hey look at all these people that reached into their pockets because they believe in TAFT".

I had my some hesitations about asking for donations so I looked around to what other people where:

1. Asking for

2. Giving away

3. What the end goal was

I wanted to top those three points and I did. $350 on most peoples RallyMe consists of a thank you email, stickers, and a hat. I'm giving away a brand new pair of skis. Most peoples campaigns is for getting them to the Olympics so they money goes towards training, traveling, entry fee's for contests, and maybe in the end Russia. Tell A Friend Tour donations go to help traveling to places to hold a free raffle, free pizza party, and get people to learn some new tricks.

If you need some new ski stuff for the season message me! And I will see what I got!

great answer man. all makes sense, budgets are budgets

like i said, i have a lot of respect for the "for us by us" (hey someone should make a company by that name!) idea, and big props to you and whoever else is involved with getting these grass roots things going, i love it

thanks for the answer dude, and keep up the good work
