Idk what LCC is but I’m boutta find out and park shittily just there with a CT plate and tell all my friends about it

Skiing is for everyone and I think the growth in participation of the sport is excellent.

Ikon is expensive AF though and a shitty deal. The alternate is too if you want to ski those hills but passholders at these mountains need to stop acting like visitors are getting a free lunch.

LCC and BCC resorts are overrated. Come at me.

They're not overrated. You're just stuck taking the usual Three Kings laps and hating on people who are better than you.

tbh a little bit ableist of u to say skiing is for everyone, what about quadroplegics?!?!

ikon isn't expensive at all for what it gives you, it's pretty damn cheap.

It’s a Wednesday and there’s already too many Arizona and California plates up here

dropping an atom bomb will almost certainly deter the jerries, unless they are stronger than we thought

All the other shit isn't cheap hotels rental cars etc even if flights typically are in the winter.

Ikon has restrictions up the ass and you have to make reservations. To get any sort of value at that price you need to have the funds and ability to take a ton of vacation.

yeah i guess i'm not really thinking about travelling. i just ski so much that it comes to like 20 bucks a day but i rarely go on vacation (maybe once every 4 years)

I don't agree with you much but this is certain. Even bumming it on a week or two long trip can prove to be expensive. Families spend more than they would at Disney for a week long ski trip. It's fucking insane.

My early season trip to Utah and JH is lining up pretty nice good car/flight/hotel reservations. I'll do Mountain Collective that will cover my needs.

It supposed to be no blackout dates great... NOT JH makes you reserve when you want to go.

I am sure I'll be fine looks like plenty of booking time left but what a fucking cunt I can't switch Utah/WY order if I chose and if I were going in January I'd have to lock in the days now. I can't imagine having Ikon in Boston and loon selling out 60 days in advance. 1500 to be treated like that? All because mountain town resident brats complained that the 4-5 extremely popular days when everyone skis and they probably stay at home anyway were a little more crowded.

The other thing people don't realize is that the cheaper resorts with cheap hotels almost always require a rental car. The only Western CA mountain that is easy AF without one is Whistler lol good luck getting a room there now its Epic. That costs as much as a lift ticket. Looking forward to using Turo though especially in Canada.

people in this forum generally arent the “move to a ski town and then make everything expensive as fuck and force locals to leave” type. people in this forum also contribute to the ski community and culture. skiing is for everyone…. who is a top earner.

I didn't say everyone moving to these places was top earners.

Covid fucked shit up across the industry. This year will be normal again people have less money but people are going to chose the same days as they always do. They don't close all these resorts in early April and go weekend only due to lack of snow its because no motherfucker feels like going if its not a pow day when everyone else wants to go. Its basic bitch trendy wanna be instagrammer shit.

I think he was pointing out how so many on here are transplants but continue to bitch and moan about all the transplants moving to their cities which naturally (because of capitalism) results in higher cost of living and larger crowds at resorts. Anyone moving to an area will affect the cost of living. We ALL are the problem. Idk why that's difficult to understand.

Very few super rich douche types on here, and even the really rich guys are pretty obsessed with skiing. Not your average ski once a year, spend $5k on dinner at vail type of folks.

You're pretty spot on. Its great to see people passionate about the places they live but it's also tiresome seeing people shit-on the places some of us grew up in like they're the authorities on it. No one is, not even people who are born and raised. Skiing, especially in some places like Utah, has become so toxic with this jaded local mindset of "Fuck you".

We also need to start holding the places we ski accountable for being an issue as well in terms of lack of planning with infrastructure and such. Some places like Solitude create some safety hazards for SR190 by not having bigger lots. Like sure, maybe expansion is difficult but places like Park City have no excuse anymore. Time and time again they've been shut down by city council for lift expansions because they won't plan-out a proper parking system and instead just come up with short-term solutions to permanent problems. Also capacity limits would be nice too, and I know that's not what you guys want to hear, but there is such thing as too many people on a ski hill at once and it overwhelms all aspects of operations. I've been working in the industry since I was 17 and its great to see the growth but at the same time, some of us are tired of being stressed-out over a thing we love to do as much as you guys.

i am butthurt that its gotten expensive as fuck. also what deebies was saying about the infrastructure being not good enough makes the issues even bigger. sorry to be a bitcher and a moaner guys

I love it when kids who just moved to Utah complain about tourists as if they're not fucking tourists themselves.

The lack of self-awareness is so hilarious.
