Thick Pow skis?!!??

Would running pow skis that are 20mm taller than I am be too difficult to control? Why does every company that makes insane pow skis (lotus, ARG II, blizzards) so fucking tall? Are you supposed to run them large??!?!?!?!

any ski with lots of rocker skis short. Not sure how well you know metric but 20 mm is less than an inch. Maybe you mean 20 cm? If so, that's pretty long but if you're an aggressive skier you'll be fine

If you are a strong skier they should not be a problem. Pow skis tend to run long because they usually have lots of rocker in the tip and or tail, thus having a much shorter effective edge relative to overall length. A ton of rocker will help you float, and a short turn radius will help make them smear/slash and feel playful. I am 5’9 and have no issue with the 188+ pow skis I have owned.

The rocker will make the underfoot portion of the ski pretty short. Yes, you are supposed to run large for better flotation. No, you probably won’t find skis less than an inch taller than you them difficult to control.

Damn, okay we all responded within a minute of each other

Botique pow skis are a niche within a niche, inside a niche sport. Because the companies you mentioned are selling to dads that are usually like 5’10”, they’re going to try to cater to that as much as they can. You can always choose a brand with a wider audience, I noticed the k2 pontoon goes down to 169

yeah something like that

I mean, tall people would enjoy them but you don't have to ski them. I'm not 'ski 198's' tall but I'm sure if I was I'd be psyched that they'd be available. I'm not sure the point of this thread

im 5 10 and the skis would be 8 inches taller than I am, full rocker

There’s plenty of pow skis out there that offer lengths that are ~180cm (6ft) and even shorter. But as people have said, rockered skis run shorter. I’d say get anything between 170-188cm - depending how you feel about length
