Basically the Pope resigned because of something within the Vatican and the new Pope is going to try to change a bunch of stuff in the church and turns out to be evil and the church will split in two.
 
Gahhh I wanna see who will be the next Pope! I'm excited, I hope he will be good. John Paul II was so dope I hope we get one who will be as good as him and not as old as Benedict

Everyone should just grow up and get a fucking life. The fact that anyone cares and that this man is still relevant is repulsive.

But, most catholics hold the pope on an "infallible" platform meaning that he can't error in either moral or faith-based matters.
 
well then they are mistaken. the pope is a normal human being just like everyone else who makes mistakes and screws up like everyone else.

he did not cover up anything, he simply forgave what the priests did... either way its not like benny had anything directly to with those scandals.
 
He actually has covered up and protected priests by hiding them in the vatican even paying victims off to keep quiet. He did the same thing in Germany too. He was a really evil man.

I'm not catholic but I visited the Vatican when I was in Europe. If the pope speaks in front of the main alter thingy he's not considered infaliable. If he speaks from behind it though catholics think that he's speaking the word of god and is infalliable. Popes almost never speak from behind the alter.
 
i think it would be cool to see the collapse or segregation of one of the biggest religious denominations of the world personally. i genuinely hope this happens
 
Well if you study it then you know that it's been shown that society basically needs religion to hold together. I have never gone to church and don't associate with any religion, but I get that people need something to explain their lives. I don't get the ones who make it their lives either though
 
For the most part Christians aren't bothering anyone, so I don't really see the need for self proclaimed 'atheists' to be the dicks that they often are. All day long on reddit it's d-bag 'atheists' going off on Christians.

If 'Atheism' is a belief that there is no God then why bother claiming to be one. I mean Chistians brag about God because its a GOOD thing. They think they're going to heaven so they're happy, But the belief that there is no God is a prett depressing idea. It's basically bragging that when you die nothing good happens and you just stop existing. Outside of the hipster coolness of being an 'Atheist' I don't see much practical utility in it, and especially not in bragging about it...
 
which is why it completely baffles me that people are able to use religion to explain shit. it's so far fetched that it's really a remarkable example of marketing as well as incredible mental strength by those who believe so wholeheartedly in things

i can't wrap my head around how people responded to stuff like thessalonians 1 and 2 and carried on like it was no trouble

i'm not bashing religion, i'm simply amazed by it and unable to understand its power over people
