so....in total this week a the us open i have turned 3 pairs of absolutely brand new skis into unskiable pieces of shit.......i hate to be harsh but im just curious if anyone else is having this issue.....is it just the stealths or the choppers too.....honestly i have never ever ever skied on anything that has held up worse....i mounted a brand new pair out of the plastic stealths and skied 3 runs on them through the park and delamed my tip on the 4th run......the other pair i had this week lasted 3 days....while i was having my new stealths mounted i took out my cnotes just to ski around and check em out...i was jus cruisin around on em for an afternoon and the tip on them is already missing the cap edge and might delam soon......when the skis are together they are great....but i dont understand how this product can be sold to the public.....i am seriously curious if this is an issue with all of the skis.....dont get me wrong...i love liberty skis as a company...and i think what we are doing is awsome....but i honestly cant tell a kid to buy them or that they are nice skis when he comes and asks me about them with a good conscience....i realize that alot of this stuff is getting worked out for next year which is great...and i know that the company is probably aware of all this.....i just get kind of curious when it only takes 4 mellow runs to ruin a brand new pair of skis....anywho thats my rant let me know what you guys think

witt, my skis have been holding up great. I have skied them for a long time. but the bidings stripped so I have to mount another pair nowe, but nothing wrong with the skis..

We have analyzed the issues with the skis. The carbon wrap is so powerful that it is slamming the tips super hard on landings sending all the vibrations right to the tips. Obviously the tips are much thinner, with less wood and glue. The vibrations are causing the materials to split and hence a delam.

Another issue we seem to be having is bindings ripping out of the skis. Again, the wood is so light that it is having trouble holding the little screws are just not cutting it. I have installed heelie coils in my skis and have relieved the binding issues. A heelie coil adds about 200% more thread to the screws and holds the binding pieces in much better.

Solutions:

We are going to use rivits in the tips and tails to help keep the materials together. K2 had this exact same problem with the Enemy, which was solved with the rivits you now see in the Public Enemy and Seth Pistol.

For the bindings, we are working on installing a laminate material in the ski under the foot to help hold the screws in better. The addition will not affect the flex, in fact it will make the ski flex better and more evenly.

More on this after Vegas!
