The "Want To Buy" Forum

I'm interested in seeing people's opinions of the "Want to Buy" forum.

The view counts and replies on the threads in there are extremely low (even going back to right during the ski season).

Overall, there just seems to be very little activity, and I'm wondering if people find the forum effective.

Buy/Sell/Trade used to be all one forum, and then it was split apart so it wasn't a confusing mumbo-jumbo mess.

Thoughts?

Also curious. We did a ton of forum splitting last year, and in my mind though it decreased confusion it really hurt overall activity.

I've posted several things to the WTB forum and have gotten one reply total. Especially since it doesn't even show up on the forum quick links bar, I don't like it. It just seems to not work that well and I've gotten more feedback from just throwing up a "WTB:" in the Sell/Trade. This is definitely one forum that I would love to see merged back together.

I feel like this may have been discussed before, but maybe the answer is a buy/sell/trade forum that has very strict rules and is highly moderated.

Ideas:

-No capital letters in the thread titles unless you're starting a word

-One bump allowed every 24 hours

-No "feelers", you must list a price

-Pictures are required

etc.

ive always spoken against further forum splitting. make rules to keep them cleaner etc but splitting them up more just gives them less traffic, and less traffic = shittier forum in 9 cases out of 10

the "want to buy" section makes no sense. no one on earth is going to click through pages of that on the off chance that they find a person looking for the item they are trying to sell

just make it buy/sell/trade again and make strict rules about naming threads. done.

How about you turn BST into tags, so you can tag #armada #jibberish #saga, then you can search for said tags and see the most recent posts? so it makes that you're looking for easier. Or is that hard as fuck to do?

That's a really good idea.

That said I never have any luck in wtb and right now b/s/t is a huge mess imo. Make some rules please

Yeah if people figured out some rules to improve it and enforced them. Always felt like it was kind of a shit show/clusterfuck over there.

I just stick to my region hitting people up through facebook generally

Just make an eBay type setup where members can add items to a store that people can search with. Search bar = wtb section deleted. Members adding items with prices and pictures will sell their shit way faster. Make categories like skis and outerwear and misc. I d k

seems like what NS would really need

The main benefit is that everything in the sell trade forum is for sale. It used to be that you would sort through like ever 5th thread with someone posting about how they can't find the same shit you are looking for. Like I'm sorry you cant find like new Pettitors in December for 200 dollars, there's a support group for that, its called everyone.
