I stumbled upon this game on IGN, and was intrigued by the reviews. Decided to see what it was all about, and since it's available for download on XBOX Live for 400 MS points (about $5), I scooped it.

Well....it's tight. I can't see a fan of The Walking Dead universe not loving this, or zombie fans in general.

It's not necessarily on par with $60 over the counter games in terms of graphics and gameplay, but for $5, it was money well spent. There are 4 more forthcoming "episodes" that will continue to explore the story of Lee Everett and his band of survivors. There are some cameos from characters both from the comics and show, but the game tells a different story set in the same universe.

It has cell-shaded style graphics which mirror the look of the comics, and the gameplay is similar to oldschool point and click adventure games where you pick up items, solve "puzzles", respond to quick time events and make decisions that will decide whether you and your eventual companions live or die.

The voice acting is good, and the action set pieces are nerve wracking and genuinely intense. The game is heavily dialog driven and feels like a Mass Effect or KOTOR game in terms of how conversations play out and how the things you say shape who you are and how others view you.

Basically, the game is a choose your own adventure book, and a damn good one. My sole gripe is that the game is definitely "on rails" meaning that you don't have much room to explore and venture beyond the main storyline and tasks that involve moving it along. There are several paths to take though, and decisions made in the moment will carry over to later events.

Just wanted to share this with my fellow fans and bored gamers. Here's a look:

Reminds me a lot of the real walking dead series. 500 msp you say?? Definitely gonna snag this up. Does the actual game itself have story or is it just roam and shoot zombies?

400!

Dude....epic story. Story and character development is the main thrust of the game. In fact, it might disappoint the more trigger/action happy set. This is much more Mass Effect, action rpg than it is Left for Dead or some beat em up/shoot em up.

There is really no roaming per se, like said, the game is mostly on rails meaning that it forces you to stick to the main story. The game is a lot of exposition and conversations, broken up by walkers encounters. The game is claustrophobic and any brief interludes of relative safety feel tenuous.
