while i agree with the video's statement on marijuana no being an addictive drug i still think it can have that effect on some people. While the average person may not be come addicted to marijuana there are some people with "addictive" personalities, these people become addicted to things most people would not (video games, food, porn, marijuana, etc.). All it takes is for this person to ruin their lives is to try marijuana and become addicted to the feeling it gives them. while i dont have any scientific facts to back up my argument, i do have a true life experience. My dad was a stoner in high school he smoked week everyday up until he was about 35 after that he started using cocaine, the cocaine gave way to crack and now my father is a heroin addict. I am not saying that marijuana is the root of his current addiction i am saying that if in the wrong hands, marijuana can mess anyone's life up. and why wait till you are a heroin addict to find out if you do have this "addictive" personality. that is why i have not smoked weed and never will.
 
I apologize if I offended you about your Dad. That blows dude, now that I look at that I seem like an asshole. But it just made me think about my friends mom who always tells us it's a gateway drug & we're all going to start doing cocaine and shit and we always joke about it.
 
No, no it can't. UNLESS they get arrested for it. That's the only way marijuana can mess up anyone's life directly and that could be solved with legalization. CORRELATION IS NOT CAUSATION. No one supports the gateway drug theory anymore. At least you admitted you have no facts to back it up. It's easy to blame your dad's problems on marijuana but the truth is, he fucked his own life up.

The problem is that it's illegality has not allowed us to conduct much research of value or merit to determine exactly how dangerous it is.

Personally, I don't think it's that dangerous at all, but who am I to say that?
 
There is danger in it. Driving while stoned is def. not safe, it slows your refex time and could cause an accident that could be serious, much like drunk driving.

My personal view is smoking pot; makes people lazy and makes them neglect the important things. This is coming from watching my friends and people i know. I see them spending money on smoking pot, buying glass and bongs. Some of these people have serious credit card debt like most people in their mid 20s. Some spend as much as 240 bucks a week on it and could use the money for more productive things.

As for legalization, I would be for it if the law was written correctly and wasn't insanely taxed(like it will) by the state and federal government. Also might get people from bitching about police for busting them. Im friends with many cops (i got some stories) and they could care less about it but its young peoples attitudes(toward police) that get them into trouble. Besides how many stoners out there actually have memorized the bill of rights? (to protect yourself because many arrests are because of cops manipulating you due to your lack of knowledge)

I dont mean to offend any stoners out there. just my personal view and throwing some useful info out there.

But if you do toke up, learn the bill of rights, i was only going to cite specific amendments but there are only ten. please learn them.
 
Doing pot is fucking terrible for you. It slows your reaction time, damages your memory, hurts your lungs. Why do people feel the need to get high? I don't get it. One of my good friends started doing it, luckily I got him to quick, but I was scared for a while. I've never done it and never will.
 
Smoke inhalation is smoke inhalation. If you're trying to say it doesn't hinder your memory and make you sorta dopey..then you've obviously been smoking the wrong shit.

Whose got the college diploma. I got the diploma, all those papers I wrote must have been just horrible with my grammer. Dude, its the internet, look at all the stupid lol,lmfas and all those other stupid ones people use. besides if pot was awesome, how come alcohol is legal and marijuana isnt?

basically, they prioritized it in their lives, like many people on this site prioritize skiing in their lives.

just a tip for you guys getting your days ruined by people smoking: commenting that some people who blaze aren't smart/cool/better whatever doesnt prove anything. no one's claiming that everyone who smokes is cool or smart or productive. but the idea that the grass is what makes these people uncool/dumb/lazy is absurd and has been disproved time and again
 
what i said doesn't come from left field. it comes from sociological knowledge. in college i learned how to analyze and observe people in there society and environment. anthropology is good at learning to look too.

Due to Harry Anslinger and Ronald Reagan, marijuana remained illegal because they thought it would curb the amount of Mexican immigrants coming in which were bringing pot in with them. Also he wanted to build up his government agency, the Federal Bureau of Narcotics. And he realized cocaine and opiates being illegal wouldn't be enough to build his agency, so he worked on making pot illegal at a federal level. There were also many corporations benefiting from pot prohibition. Timber companies supported it because they didn't want to see hemp paper compete with them, racists supported it because it gave them another reason to arrest Mexicans, and chemical companies such as Dupont supported it because they wanted to see medicinal effects of marijuana eliminated as competition, as well as hemp, which competed with nylon and other fabrics.

So you see, it has nothing to do with the effects on people or their health. As much as you'd like to think big brother is looking out for us, they're still looking out for big business' personal interests. Even in the case of marijuana.

valid question right there, considering the alcohol related deaths far outnumber the marijuana related deaths?

my friend asked me, "how many guys have you heard of smoked so much weed they went home and beat their wife?"

alcohol is a far more dangerous substance in my opinion (not that i am saying that marijuana has no detrimental factors to its use)
