The Summer Rail Challenge - Edit Contest

do you have to turn yours at all? i can get mine to 30 feet and then make a turn to get around stuff

I made it straight to make it easier. Even then I'm going to be landing in a few trees if I grease it

Finished making the waterfall! I probably won't be able to enter this contest due to me not having time to film a full edit this summer but you should be seeing it in a Totally Trevor contest entry soon;)

Where can I see a video of this

Got one if you dig through my IG, but I won't real ease a vid unless I get the whole thing. I have limited time there because it's at my cabin 4 hours out from where I live and I'm trying to focus on other shots that are a little easier to get.

Sounds good definitely post it if you get it!

is music in the pre roll is okay? I have it in and just like the way it feels right now, just editing up the intro and opening shots.

This is sick, is it connected as one whole piece or three different mini rails?

3 diff rails which can be a little sketchy because none of them are bolted down

ahhh summer set up shenanigans, how i miss you so. It has been a few(x2) years since i have had the time to be silly... Good on you Kevin for putting this on this comp, stoke! stoke! stoke! I am excited to see the entries! Here are some of my throwbacks from '08/'09.

Hey everybody. Just a very quick warning. If you're planning to upload your video to Youtube, please be aware that in Europe we have really strict music copyright laws so there's a chance that we won't be able to watch your videos. We suggest you either choose an unknown artist (soundcloud is a good place to find these with free downloads) or you upload your edit to Vimeo instead which doesn't have the same copyright restrictions... yet. Thanks to everybody who has submitted an edit so far, we're stoked on the level and creativity of everybody involved. Cheers, Amplid.

sorry

once an entry is submitted does it take awhile for the entry to show up on the "view contestants" page? from processing and whatnot? I submitted mine yesterday and am all flustered now from not seeing it.

So when exactly do we have to submit our entry? I ask just because in rules it says on monday 1st of September but in my calendar the 1st of september is a tuesday?

how long does it usually take? submitted mine this morning and didnt see it up

We've got to sleep at some point. Europe's a minimum of 8 hours ahead of the US. Your edit went up first thing this morning. Nice work.

Just a quick reminder to anybody who still wants to submit a video entry, we need to receive your entry by midnight tonight PST.

I went so hard today that I broke a rail, and my rails are quite sturdy.

dude, your setup is fucking unreal, I'm so jealous xD you end up falling at the end of that monster long rail?

And is that tank (gas tank?) in the background in use? I always wanted to sandpaper one real good to make a fat metal tube...

some crazy competition in some entries though

I didn't fall (honest truth), I can assure you that I went to the future through that wormhole. The summer setups of the year 2069 are all like that. People just slide rails that are 69.420ft long as an average. I met a kid who did all 16 dub swap 270s on one. Another kid did a disaster 6 on continuing 4. I met yet another who took his drop in to all the urban spots from Mutiny to recreate Stept's movie in the summer. The future of summer glaciers is fading but the future for summer setups is bright! #globalmelting #kooklyfe4prez

The gas tank is very much in use. Cabin is heated by liquid propane which is the only thing keeping the pipes from freezing when it hits -50F up there. Hopefully I will be able to retire it someday.

haha fair enough xD wouldn't you have to spin more than 2015 (like 6 on 4 switch ups 8 out?) or complete over 2015 inches? hmmm. I could totally see more and more people just going around town setting up portable droppins and put some watery turf as a a landing to hit urban. Just when you though urban couldn't get any sketchier: summer urban :O

nah man it's not the spin that counts, it's the length

Video submission for the Summer Rail Challenge is now closed.

Big thanks to everybody who participated in this contest! Lots of really sick entries, I'm super stoked to watch them all!

The winners will be revealed shortly (early next week at the latest).

Thought I might as well post my entry here!

I don't have the room to build crazy rails, so I probably don't stand a chance. It was fun filming though!

If I had a 20ft straight rail I'd always run the risk of slamming my head into my porch on a fall. If I shot to the right a little I could go forever. I understand you pain but not completely.

Congrats to all the winners and bonus prize winners!

A big thanks to everybody who participated in the contest. Thanks to Newschoolers who helped me to promote the contest; to my friends who helped with the judging, and to my sponsors (Amplid, Saga Outerwear and Tall T Productions) and mSnow for supporting the contest with prizes! I'm really stoked on how the contest turned out, and I hope everybody enjoyed watching all the edits as much as I did!
