The Stratton Update Thread

cool.

So i figured it would be easier just to keep everything all in one thread instead of starting new threads or bumping old ones.
In this thread i'll try and keep you guys updated as much as I can with pictures and err' thang.
You can also use this thread to let peeps know when your going to Stratton so we can all shred.

don't have much right now but yesterday and the day before Stratton got covered in a nice blanket with a couple inches at the bottom and 3-6 up top. Stratton will be blowing snow this week almost every night and is most likely going to open up friday and definitely open this weekend. (weekend of the 5th and 6th) I believe they are going to try and have a little park up with a few rails and some jibs.

if you dislike Stratton please keep your hate out of this thread. Please do not say "go to mount snow is better!!!!" even though Mount Snow's park is obviously better, Stratton may be more convenient for some people and they try too they just don't have a peak dedicated to park, but you never know that might change.
thanks,Cole

sick idea

i heard they blew 11 inches at the peak

i will deff let you know if im coming up this season

This is what nick said to me on thurseday, Dude there isnt gonna be any snow this weekend, i dont know if it's gonna worth going, so instead of skiing stratton i had to stay home and break in the love wagon with some slut from my school

They're making snow now, hopefully this rain coming later in the week doesn't melt too much.

*Update*
They have been blowing snow as much as possible but since the temps are going back up for today they are planning on opening Saturday the 5th.
They are making snow on Black Bear, Polar Bear, Grizzly Bear, and Bear Bottom. From what i hear they are trying to get some rails up for opening day!

Cool idea on the thread Cole. I'll be up there both days this weekend with Jason. Sounds like I missed a fun couple days Friday and Saturday. I'm sure I'll see you up there this weekend.

*Sad Update*
Stratton will not be opening this weekend. :( but they will be blowing all weekend and all next week because it's finally going to stay cold (knock on wood) and they plan on opening Tuesday the 8th with top to bottom skiing and by next weekend i bet they'll be putting up some of these railssss http://www.facebook.com/album.php?aid=162811&id=9189524466&ref=mf woo hoo! new paint jobss and lookin sexyyyy

*Opening Day Tomorrow!*
top to bottom and like, 8 trails or so will be open! they've been blowing snow all week and the 5 inches of snow we got made everything look white. winter is hereeee (knock on wood)
i'll try and get some pics. this weekend should be siiick.

hope they get some new rails and boxes for the park a c rail or box or somethign would be sick this year also bring the park back to suntanner so much more room...is burnside really going to be a border cross this year?

byrnside is going to be a boardercross, supertrail over in sunbowl is going to be the main/"big" park with lotsaa rails on lower middlebrook. minipark is still on tyrolliene with a rail garden up to under the amex like always.
should be a good year.
skied today and it was gooood. they only had a little flatbox and a little rainbow box up today but by the weekend they'll definitely have some more stuff setup. we're supposed to get up to 8 inches of snow tomorrow and a lil wintery mix too but it should accumulate well and by the weekend my guess is they'll have 15 trails open or so.

Had a snow day yesterday and decided to head up. We didn't bring a camera but I wanted a picture of me in this drift. The way the wind was blowing, there were a few areas of the mountain that had 1-200 yard stretches of drifts, all this deep. Sooo smooth. Lots of fun to hit as a rhythm section. The drifts made perfect takeoffs and landings.
Anyway, here's an example of the depth of the snow in spots. Conditions should be good this weekend with the cold weather we have around now.

thanks Fintan! yeah we got about 12"-16" inches of snow yesterday and we're suppose to get a couple more tomorrow. Stratton will definitely have quite a few more trails open for this weekend.
i'll be shredding the shredding around all weekend give me a shout out. white helmet with either a red or plaid jacket and anthems. WINTER IS HEREEEEEEE!!!!!!!

NEW FEATURES FOR TOMORROW
today they were pushing snow around down on tyrol and they were also moving around some rails and boxes (decent size features) so tomorrow should be dope! i'll definitely have some pics up tomorrow afternoon of whats going on for parks

Terrain park specialists will place multiple rails on Tyrolienne tomorrow including: a 25' zig zag, 15' A-frame box, 30' flat box, 20' step down box, 15' battle ship rail and that's just the tip of the iceberg.
thats from stratton's website. sounds like funnnnn

i was shreddin stratton on thursday. real nice pow in the woods between polar and grizzly. grizzly bear was super fun with nice rollers and soft snow. ill be there on monday again, stoked for the jibs setup

im not around this weekend, sorry dude. but i do know that they were re-doing tyrol and this is from their website:
Slay Tyrolienne Saturday. Features include: 10' box, two-box combo, A-frame box, 30' flat box, 15' battleship rail, 15' flat rail, 15' down rail, culvert, 3 jumps!
i'll be around all christmas so whenever someone is gunna be around let me know!

since its not supposed to warm up soon (knock on wood) and since the sunbowl is already open, my guess is they'll have a real park up in 2 or 3 weeks. my guess is they'll open lower middlebrook as the jib park by the weekend of the 2nd and 3rd, and have big jumps up either at the same time, or the weekend after that.
this is all an estimate though, i hope to get some real info sometime in the next week.
merry shredding!cole

This next storm is looking iffy for New England. Temperatures are going to be right on the freezing-border at sea level, hopefully the elevation will help VT and it'll snow a bit. I haven't been to stratton in a few years and I'd like to get up to there mid-next week (after surfing in the obx for a few days). It's gonna be a great vacation...

*update*
will definitely have pics up by tomorrow night of the setup on tyrol. it's a pretty fun little setup. will be shredding around tomorrow afternoon so give me a shout out if your around. I'll be wearing a red jacket riding anthems, im sure youll know its me.
more good news!
some rails are being setup on lower middlebrook tonight so we'll definitely be seeing that open pretty soon. cats are also pushing around snow over on supertrail so my guess is we see the full park opening up beginning of january. get psyched!
merry shredding,Cole

yeah i hit up stratton last weekend, wasnt as good as it soundsthe rails were sticky, caught way too many edges on the boxes cuz they were very beaten up, the jumps were very very smallbut thts just tyrol so w.e, hopin for better soon!

anyone have any info on tomorrow night's Cold Wars rail jam? i need to know when registration is and if everything is at night or if there are qualifiers in the afternoon/midday

reg is usually at 5 downstairs in the base lodge. no details on the site yet but it will be under the lights so to be safe id get there at 3 or 4 just incase

The first VANS 'Cold Wars' event of 2009-10 is tomorrow at 5PM, under the lights. Open to the public, this freestyle competition features cash prizes, not to mention King and Queen of the mountain bragging rights for the winners. Registration starts at 4 in the Bears Cave at the Base Lodge. All riders will be required to wear a helmet, have an SES pass and parental consent upon registering.

I will be skiing Stratton from Thursday to Sunday. Looking forward to a good time, hopefully they can match the fun I've had at Mount Snow this year.

get out of this thread bozdog, people post in this thread when they are going to stratton or when they want talk about the park. all you talk about is how mt.snow is so much better, which it obviously is so you dont need to state it so many times. you have nothing constructive to say so stop posting.

My bad, I DID go to stratton last week with the kids. The lifts are really nice, the staff was friendly and the snow was white. No bargain but the brats insisted.

yeah i believe all this is true.
the mountain lost a little bit of snow. mostly a thin top layer, the coverage is still pretty good though. since its supposed to get a lot colder over the next week i believe they're turning the guns back on and continuing to pump out snow all over the mountain.

*UPDATE*
GET PSYCHED!!!!!
Middlebrook opened late this afternoon with a siiiiiick, really fun park. Only got about 5 runs on it but we did some filming with a GoPro and should have an edit up within a couple days.
i'll explain it to you though
here it is (i think this is the order):
a-frame box, up box, jump (15ft) flat rail, flat rail, zig-zag rail, up culvert, flat box, cliff gap (10 ft), rock jib, step up (30ft), flat rail, 20ft jump, a frame rail, flat rail with a 6ft drop off the end

cole: was there a down rail, down box or battleship box and the flat-down box...I was knida expecting them and there was a few pictures of the flat-down box on facebook. how was the flow?

either way I'm super stoked...too bad the car wouldn't start this morning or else I woulda been up there. kinda a lame question, but what's up in tyro right now jib wise?

thanks for any info and see you out there.
