Austin here again, this time I have 2 questions for you:

1. When was the first time you knew that music kicked ass and you couldn't live without it for the rest of your life. Explain your experience...

2. What was the first tape, cd, record etc. that you owned yourself. Not your parents, not your friends, you.

1) summer after 8th grade (which was the year my dad died...five years ago) when i went to a laser pink floyd show at the boston science museum and i started actually listening to the words of roger waters and i realized how unbelievably true all of his songs were...ever since then, ive been obsessed with not only floyd, but every type of music

2)as for the first cd that caught me...haha, you will probably laugh, i was like 6 or 7 and it was the beach boys - endless summer...they were also my first concert

2.) My first CD I think was Tom Petty, Full Moon Fever. Still love it.

1. For me it was when I first listened to my own music. Something that my parents didn't listen to. It was all mine. I loved, and still do, how everyone has a different taste in music and you can listen to whatever you please.

2. My first tapes (found them on the side of the road) were Oasis-Whats the Story Morning Glory and Green Day-Dookie. Such good music!

'. . . thou shalt eat the herb of the field ' (Genesis 3:18)

'. . . eat every herb of the land ' (Exodus 10:12)

'Better is a dinner of herb where love is, than a stalled ox and hatred therewith' (Proverbs 15:17)

'He Causeth the Grass to Grow for the Cattle, and Herb for the Service of Man' (Psalm 104:14)

It was probably when the summer of 7th grade. A kid from Florida moved up to CT and was my next door neighbor. He and his brothers exposed me to ska - Less Than, Mustard Plug, Bosstones, Hippos, Goldfinger. Just listening to that music while doing stuff that summer kinda let me know how pervasive and important music is - the soundtrack of our lives.

Since then I've grown to love every kind of music. From Zeppelin to Dylan, the Dead and Phish, Bach to Mozart, NOFX to Pennywise, Get up Kids to Taking Back Sunday. As I've met people and been exposed to different kinds of music, the idea that music plays an innate part in our lives has only been made stronger.

But back to topic:

First CD I ever owned:

Everclear 'So Much for the Afterglow'
