Well my thread for the day got cybernannied into where ever they go

So I startz a new 1

The turn I can feel it had the puffy on the other morning when the 4:20 alarm went off to be in the boat and on the river at dawn. My beloved 1st issue of POWDER is next to the shitter. Its harvest time in the garden. Nights are gettin longer. I find myself down in the mancave starin at the quiver, deciding whos gonna go or stay. Should my turn earnin old hippy ass shell out for them dynafiddle carbon boots? Managed not to fuck up last seasons sweet gig so the pass questions answered. Damn II need to puff a little less tough and get into the gym.

In this thread you could formulate deep thoughts and post them.

You could post some sweet pics ,edits, or bring the stoke

You could tell us about your bestest POWDER skiing experience

There is a gear forum but if you need to tell us about your favorite POWDER skis thatll work

Likewise if you desire to tell us about your most favorite POWDER skier again

But of course the threads my (quote/apostrophy brokie) first or some other form of thought less form of participation.

You may let this thread die

You may bump this thead midwinter with a shot of you in the most holy white room or one you took

If you absolutely feel the need to tell us POWDER sucks or in some other way troll or otherwise cunt up what could be an entertaining thread to some youre wasting time. Start a skiing of the parkz or rail or grooms or what ever floats your skis and

+++++VIBES BRO I hopesome day you gets it

I dont generally waste time bestoyin or rapin the k, but as a carrot on a stick or a way of givin back for quality posts , I will be offering incentives which will range from the grip of sticker and swag I have accumlinated to guided skiingfishing instruction not that youd want to hang irl to lift ticket hookups and gear pair of poles or two gogs and possibly skis

While I doubt anyone here is gonna blow me away enough to get brand spankin new skis if you dont have pow skis and someone gives you a used pair or a pair of blems id be stoked

I dont have time to contribute to this thread right now

I feel the turn and need to prepare

This day was pretty sweet. 24" fresh and about 15 degrees. Bluebird. Went out and did these photos for a couple of hours (with Nelson Carmichael no less) , then slayed pow for the rest of the day til my legs turned to jello. This photo ended up in SKIING mag the next year. So that was a pretty good day.

this winter has been terrible in europe, so too bad, no cool powder shots/edits from my side, but this has made me even more stoked on the new winter, already fixed sleeping spots in france, swiss, italy and austria for the season, so i plan on hunting down the powder all winter long :)

yes. except for the huge storm in the early season, november was that? with 1m of fresh snowfall in one night at hintertux in austria.

and middle of march, i had over kneedeep freshies during the zinal freeride, 4 days, 2 game days sunny, other 2 days were blizzard :)it was kinda nice to ski the best snow of all season during a freeride contest :)

I live in Hokkaido, I get to ride a lot of pow. 11 weeks till the season starts, I can't fucking wait for more of this:

This is my edit from our winter vacation to the monshees and the Blanket Glacier Chalet. This was our 4th trip there and one of the best conditons weve scored.

I is a bit long and has old people and my wife makin wiggle turns, but I love the song and them old people I get to share turns and the rest of the cool shit that a yurt trip entitles and nobody is making you push play

It's not over the head deep, but it was oh so sweet still.

Those two shots were at Magic Mountain in Southern Vermont last January. 15-20" of total blower on top of essentially no base. Had to pick shards of granite out of my bases at the end of the day, and bent an edge in underfoot a little, but I have zero regrets.

I'm a poor, east coaster who never gets to venture out of his New England ski territory, so my epic days are when the going gets good in the NorthEast.

Monday, December 22, 2008.

We were on the final day of a VERY nice little storm cycle that provided us with some very solid 5-day snowfall totals. The going was as good as it gets in New England.

I had to work over the Saturday and Sunday periods so I missed out on all the debauchery that took place on the weekend, but my Monday was wide-open. Made some phone calls on Sunday and worked out to make some turns with Ian (Bangor on here), and his buddy Evan at Killington since we were picking up another big refresher overnight.

We spent the entire day just slaughtering the trees until we could no longer ski. Found some pockets of nipple deep even. The following photographs document how wonderful of a day it was:

Little chopped up, but still plenty of pockets of goodness.

Snow-beards? Hell yeah! This particular line is stupid fun. Short few turns that is nothing more than a singletrack mountain bike trail. The way it runs through the trees makes for a playful section and is unbeatable when you get first tracks.

A little more open here. Setting in with a bit of speed.

Going gets good when the legs disappear.

Getting even better!

Still better!

Money shot!

Ya know those turns that you will NEVER forget every aspect of? That last shot was one of those turns. I remember just setting into a turn and hitting a stretch that had not had a skier on it all week. I just sank almost to my nips when I weighted for that turn.

The skiing was so sick that day, it must've been contagious. I went home that evening and ended up getting violently ill. Threw up 9 times overnight.

Still, it was one of the better days of my life.

And god damn guys... I was doing fine all summer enjoying the pristine VT singletrack. Now I am fiending for some powder days!

got a few powder pics and vids in my profile, unfortunately parks are a lot easier to use for photo/videoshoots.

the first run i ever skied with my first pair of powder skis was literally orgasmic. i almost fell over from the ohhhhh yeahhhh, uuugh, yesss

I skied a bit of pow once. I'm from jersey, I tried to use my edges. It didn't work. Then I tried channeling my inner nimbus and skiing switch. Didn't work either.

Pow, I can't wait to ski some this winter! I'm from Wisconsin, not much pow up here don't cha know. There were a couple of days this winter that we got dumped on and I honestly had the most fun of my life. We got probably 20" of fresh one time and I spent the whole day hiking up the hill over on the side where not as many people ski (they shut down the lift, apparantly they weren't ready for the extreme powage). No feeling like it. Granted I don't have pow skis, but my anthems were wide enought to handle it decently. I ended up skiing off of the side of our hill into the trees (technically private property). I probably took about a 30 second run down the trees through the pow where I knew noone had skied before that winter. It took me about an hour and a half to hike back to the hill/my car but it was completely and totally worth it. Soon enought I got the opportunity to go out to Utah for spring break. It was kinda wet pow out there but we skied brighton and I got that taste again. I'm going out west for a month this winter and I absolutly cannot wait to strap in and make some real pow slashes.

^^^ One of them Green Ebouncers doesnt seem to like me yet lacks the balls or time to pm or explain why he likes to fahrenheit 451 my creative shizz, probably easier to just hit delete than take the time to try and create your own shazz and well uncreative people do uncreative things like censor. Well far be it for me to vag up my own powders thread I created & JD has a wonderful thread on that maderation topic

So my contribution for today shall be on my favorite powder skis and skiers

These are Splatulas

199-2-1.jpg

they basically Shane McConkeys original volant spatula, which changed the skiing of the powders forever imo, with a +cm all the way around. They are made by me ,well this pair was, Im blessed to have a BRO who makes skis in Reno. So I road trip out from wasangles every fall and show up at the http://pmgear.com help my bro out and lay up, press and finish a pair for me.

My BRO Splat is a pow mag og ce and has been skiing the powders @ squaw for a while and blessed to have gottin to hang and be one of Shanes many bros. These skis like the og spatula, of which I still have a pair of are reverse chamber/reverse sidecut and are ~ 135 144 130 and as you might expect

They slayages the POWDERS

I now have a softer, not ep pro/hellbent floppy noodle soft, w/ demo bindings, and a stiffer pair with Dukes Not the most pleasant touring rig on the up, but doable. My Bo is talking about doing some pure carbon fibered ski models , ala DPS or goode, and I stoked to try to get him to core shave down a splatula and bring the ~5.5lb down closer to a DPS lotus 138 ~4.1 lb, which is my other favorite ski for the skiing of the POWDERS

Lastly the funny, odd, ironic, unbelievably cool thing this guy

pm026.jpg

Who created pm gear and the splatula and this guy whose vision spawned the spat changed the skiing of the POWDERS and was the M to the FKNA G.O.A.T

shane-mcconkey-dead-shane-mcconkey-death.jpg

and this jabroni , who wishes got the chance to meet the ledgendary saucer lad,

380.jpg

share the same DOB So my bro and I run a demo WasatchPOWDERski bidness and if by some chance you share that DOB the splats or the spats are on me that day

Last few seasons ullr, shane or some other dietey has been bringing the POW to wasangles on that date and Im prayin for the repeat

We were traversing out of the Stevens Pass BC last year when we found this little gem of a pillow field. Because we rolled up all the way at the bottom, I had to sidestep about 100 yrds uphill through a bottomless base to hit this. My favorite shot of the season. Thanks to Ben for killing it with the camera.

I where in Chamonix in february. It hadn't snowed since christmas, but at night it snowed 40 cm! But yes, it have all over bin a terrible winter in the alps!

I liked it too It aint always about takin a nice camera or time o set up a shot

U haz won pm me if you want a few stickers

I dont send random pms its kind of creepystalkerishimo

Last night I had a dream that I was absolutely flying down the longest powder run. Trees were whipping past my face at ridiculously fast speeds, until I reached a cliff that would have sent most people pissing and packing. Not me though, I launched, it and in my complete and utter bliss threw a trick that I dont even know the name off. I stomped the landing into chest deep powder into one of the steepest. most beautiful runs that I had ever been on, and I had never been happier in my life. There was but a sound, no music, no obnoxious skiing partners, just the soft sound of my perfect turns and the endless blower snow pushing up against my chest and legs. Then at the peak of my experience, as I hit that perfect skiiers high that I usually only imagine, where I am in perfect sync with the world, there is nothing but me and mother Earth, beauty and utter perfection, my alarm clock went off and I had to go shower. fuck.

Best powder day of my life, so fucking sad:

Jackson Hole, the day after CR passed away. I remember, I got the third tram up, and even though I'm not a local, I was talking about him, and how sad it was, with some of the obvious ones. Just before we got to the top somebody cried out 'Shred for CR!', and the sad, quiet conversation gave way to a resounding cheer. As I got off, I saw it was gonna be a damn good day. Rendezvous Bowl was the best I'd ever seen it in the two weeks I'd skied there before. It just got better from there. I just couldn't get CR out of my head, and maybe that's for the best, that joy should always be somewhat tempered by sadness.

Kinda similar story, same day shredding with around a foot of new snow and perfect bluebird at Steamboat. Hiking and skiing Werner with a bunch of friends having the time of our lives, then some really nice lady named Mindy offers to take us into the Steamboat backcountry off of North St. Pats. We had already done the short awesome backcountry trail that leads to a 25 minute hike a bunch of times during the week that we had been there, so we skied the awesome first start of the Steamboat backcountry once again. After doing the 25 minute hike there is another backcountry access into a much longer crazy journey down that we had just dreamed of doing the days before. Mindy took us four teenagers into the heart of the backcountry forest Steamboat has to offer. Being four east-coasters we were amazed at the knee deep of fresh powder and gnarly pillow lines in front of us. After going down some-ways the trees spat into a big bowl and skiing this run was probably the best feeling/run I've ever had!

one day in tahoe we got 2 feet at the lake and 3 feet on the mountain over night and it kept on snowing during the day. i think we got a total of like 40 or 50 inches that day and night. anyways i got stuck in waist deep powder and had to dig myself out every run or two. at the bottom i got to the lift panting everytime but it was one of the best days ive had in a while

doing some deep storm skiing on patsy marley one day, my buddy snapped this one of me, awesome snow that day

goddamnit skifishbum

There is a reason I try to fill my head with thoughts of park in the summer, and that's so that I don't fill my head with thoughts of powder in the summer....

I had a dream about skiing pow the other day. It was great.

so this past season i was lucky enough to spend two separate weeks at bachelor during heavy la Nina storm cycles, both weeks it just dumped, and at the tail end of both weeks it cleared up and the summit chair opened up. two of the best weeks i've ever had skiing
