The Ski Wiki

Sooo, while I was waiting for my Moment Comi's to get here I could not find a picture of the base anywhere... That made me sad, so i figured I would try to avoid future catastrophes by creating a Ski Wiki...

http://skiing.wikispot.org/Company_Directory

--------------------------------

Basically my goal is:

A place to post pictures of skis,

More detailed specs than what you can find on manufactures sites. And maby a little history about the ski and company.

And information about older skis that are no longer manufactured, before they are lost in the big mountain in the sky.

--------------------------------

So far I have created very basic out lines about a few company's, and a few pairs of skis. But thats why its a wiki anyone can edit it! And hopefully help the site grow, (unless I IP ban your ass)

--------------------------------

if you do decide to contribute, try to follow the sloppily typed guidelines for adding stuff

and if anyone has any tips or ideas yell em out.

damn it i thought this was gonna be like jugglewiki. where a little stick dude shows you how to do tricks in slowmotion. but thats sick too

Add them your self lazy ass!!!

just kidding

anyway if you cant figure out how to add them let me know and il get on it.

for a good idea...

okay, so i have a Ideas,

what im thinking is some sort of Gear guide, that could have articles like "Reverse Camber" then there could be a description about what it is, and then skis that are reveres camber could link to that page.

Also it could have information about the construction of different types of skis, like sandwich construction, side wall etc..., then in the construction area of ski info they could link to that page.

sense i hope that made....

So, we need to come up with a NAME for said section.

also, where they are made. have a map of the world, and a symbol or whatever on the country where they are made. that way you can see who builds which skis where, and what else is made in that region. like amplid and faction being made in austria.

Good Idea, but i am wayyyyyy to much of a noob with html type stuff to even have a chance of figuring that out.

Soooooo... if anybody who knows that type of stuff, and has some time on their hands..... Please stand up..

who makes the unski wiki, like where you can say in all seriousness that those blueish/greenish troublemakers with those eyes on them probably were the best rail ski of all time

I'll try to whip something up in the ways of a flash applet that shows countries and where the companies are located. Might be a couple days so be patient, I'll try to get a scratch copy up here tonight.

Looks good! Here is a better picture, in my opinion. I think that some places, like Europe, are going to be super-packed, so maybe a different "close-up" map for more ski company dense places would be visually more appealing. Just my two cents.

I'll find a website that can host it and let me embed it or somethin', I just found that site realll fast so I could show the beginnings off and get some feedback. Maybe I can even host them on the wiki page, dunno, I'll check that out now.

If someone could figure me out a list of where each company is located (State or country-wise) and PM it to me that would be awesome, because then I can just add the companies where they belong. It's really damn hard to find where some of these companies have their headquarters. Oh, and usermj, I uploaded it to the wiki page so that's done and I can embed it once I finish, don't wanna waste space with it right now since it's basically a blank map. Link is http://skiing.wikispot.org/Company_Directory?sendfile=true&file=Company%20Map.swf if you wanna check it out again.

SPARKNOTES: Someone make me a list of where companies are located and PM it to me, and I will bring a glorious interactive map to the ski wiki. Kthx.

not sure that that link works, and i cant find it if i go through the ski wiki homepage. are you sure you got it embedded right. its seriously sick though, i like it a lot.
