last night i just started my skis. Pretty much put three coats of primer on and today i'm doing the paint. I took out my bindings and then i started to sand them. Then i primed that making sure not to get the edges painted. Or the base. I'll put up some pics when they are done. probably by the weekend. Later

any fate questions or orders, let me know.

if your worried about them chipping you should flex them a bit when you paint them so they can flex heaps or be straight.

ever wonder if iliterate people get the full effect of alphabet soup???

if you use spraypaint, it wont chip, only shlaque paints will chip. don't use em. and make sure to sand the skis before hand or nothin will stick

paint them with latex spray paint. First put downa layer of primer or two, then like three coats of the latex primer. Then a polyurythane coating (clear coat) use a whole bottle on each ski. This should do the trick for ya.

ok, good try. When u spray paint you skis and add three coats it's just so that the paint covers to primer. And where the hel do u get 4 pounds of weight. What the clear coat does is going to protect the ski from nicks and scraping off the paint. And it also gives a nice clear shine to the ski. I Have clear coated my skis before and u can't even tell the difference.

anyone other than these two know if it really does make them that much heavier

Team Sofa King Amazing

Being Irish, I guess I should resent the Notre Dame nickname 'The Fighting Irish.' After all, how long do you think nicknames like 'The Bargaining Jews' or 'The Murdering Italians' would last? Only the Ironic Irish could be so naively honset. I get the feeling that Notre Dame came real close to naming itself 'The Fuckin Drunken, Thick-Skulled, Brawling, Short-Dicked Irish'

3 layers of paint on such a small surface wouldnt make 40 pounds, but dont use a whole can, its pointless..

the whole can weights like 454 g and you'll add a layer of protection like a mm thick. It's well worth the 908 g you will add to your skis. Com'n lets think about this for a second...

908 g is almost a kilos and therefore about 2pounds....

but i don;t think all that weight would be on the skis as much of the weight of the can is in the propleeant (that which gets the paint out of the spray can) and that is not weight taht would be added to the skis

use an air brush for those of you still in high school your art teacher is bound to have one. then after you've done your design let it sit and go over it two or three times with a clear protections cot.(latex recommended). I did this to an old pair of skis and it still sticks good and no chips or nothing.

sacrifice, to some its just a word, to others it is a code, what matters is the colony, he is willing to live for the colony, fight for the colony, die for the colony.

i was thinkin exactly what moe said...if u put 3 nice coats on of your color and your clear coat then that would ad like no weight at all.

Most of the 'weight' (reletive to gravity), in paint is only in the 'stuff' that lets the paint spread over a surface. Most of this 'stuff' gets sublimed into the air (the smell that makes you high). When you paint something with a can let's say 500grams, only a small portion of that actually gets dryed to the surface. So it would be quite reasonable to spray your skiis with 3 cans of paint, the 'weight' added would be negligable. and second.

Chrome is EVIL!!!! Chrome is one of the softest alloys around, and the polymers coating your ski is even softer. If chrome is added as a shell to a surface and a 'knick' ever gets put in it, it will slowly send surface and point defects through the other material (throught your skis), these point defects on a short term actually strenthen your ski, but in the long term the polymers will become brittle, the ski will snap like one of those clear bic pens.

thanks pirate pete. The only reason that i use a whole can on teh skis is because i got like 5 nice coats onto it. Those bitches are never gonna scratch. Plus it fills in all the surface defects from my shitty paint job. They are almost done too. I just have to get a picture of them up on here. Today i finished off the graffiti.
