The Oh Shit Not enough speed to make that 60 footer foundation

I feel like as a skier who has on occasion cased a larger feature I believe this is or chance to share those tales of pain and misery. Just put up your tales of Oh Shitdom for shits and giggles.

or overshoot

I hit a jump slow and landed on the flat and one of my skis popped off and all the force went to my other foot and my foot broke. Then I skied on one foot for a few hours then I went home and rested for a few weeks.

2 years ago i took a sw 180 like 15 feet too big and backseat, knew i was fucked mid air and immediately blew out my acl. that was dope

Never cased anything over 50. Overshot stuff though. Crack a vertabre and ended up with a binch of bairline fractures up my femur. Got pretty fucking lucky. Was only 40 but took it to dead flat by a good distance. I wish i had a video but if i watched it itd probably scare the shit out of me.

The only danger with park jumps generally is testing them after you build. Once something's open and people are hitting it you have a pretty good idea the speed. Sometimes spring snow can be a bitch though. Case one than take another to the gucci plateau.

My speed judgement is absolutely immaculate.... 85% of the time. The other 15% has me constantly come up about 10' short.

I used to test all my own jumps, and I've definitely cased a few 60'-80' jumps.

Not fun.

Yeah that first trip in is a dice roll. Just scope it out feel it in your head and hope you to god youre right. Nothing bettet than it being a great success. Nothing worse than gettingsmoked.

Hahahha... fuck yeah. Testing a fresh jump that you built is scary as fuck. HOnestly though, I literally had that 85/15 ratio. I remember once decking this 60' kicky-as-fuck big air contest booter that had like 11' of stepdown. at least 10' short and just pancaked on the deck like a little bitch alone on the hill.

Had to go get one of the local pro snowboarders and tell him I just couldn't sort my own jump out.

A 45 foot jump I had stomped before but a different trick, switch tail 5, and I was scared to even try, but my buddies convinced me. Didn't take enough speed going in switch, pulled the five around, missed the grab, and ended up with a binding tail piece up my ass.

Long time ago in my youth days, I came up short on a school bus gap feature at Cascade mountain. This is a good 8-10 years ago when they actually cared about their park...Landed a few feet short of the landing on the roof of the bus. Needless to say it did not feel good.

cased the shack jump just after WSI in whistler.

i bounced on the knuckle, ate my lip, and flew all over the landing upside down.

no harm done beside a fucked up lip.

scary as shit though.

I case fucking everything because I weigh fuck-all and don't have the momentum to hit the larger jumps. My ankle's still messed up from last season when I hairlined the lower end of my fibula while casing on a pretty decent sized jump..

I convinced my friend to hit the first jump in three kings at Park city and any one who rides there knows everyone can hit that jump, well he went in and i don't know what the hell he was thinking but he came in going half the speed that you need so it was already to late to tell him to stop so he ended up casing and knocking him self out it was funny as shit wish i would have filmed it!

Mid backie, tips caught knuckle. In turn that reversed my rotation and i slammed my face on the gucci plateau, which obliterated my nose.

i feel like you shouldn't be in that park anyway

over shot the last jump in freeway, landed absolutely flat. I was doing a 180 so i got bucked when I landed, lucky just felt a shock through my feet, no injury.

We had a jump in Telluride this year that was 50-60 feet and almost impossible to get speed for. The first time I hit it, I tucked into it, popped as hard as I could, and still came up about 5 feet short. The impact hurt my balls so bad

Last season I watched a friend send this thing to flat. The kid somehow skied away from it but you could just see him flailing as he came over the knuckle about 15 feet above it.

When i was younger and smaller i had this problem massively. Would be tucking in and stillncoming up a couple feet short. Im 6' plus now and have some weight so its wayy betyer now

Knuckled the first jump in the triple line at Cardrona this year.

Worst ball bang of my entire life. Ankles, knees and back all fine. But my balls, holy shit did they hurt.

The jumps at my home mountain aren't huge, but it still hurts like crazy when you come up short, but like 90% of the people that hit them come up short everytime and they never adjust lol. I think theyre just constantly afraid of overshooting because it's a long and steep landing

WE AT CUFST DONT EVER CASE JUMPS. IF WE DID CASE A JUMP, IT WOULDN'T MATTER BECAUSE WE HAVE BALLS OF STEEL.

Used to have full rack of braces on my teeth with little hooks on them to connect little rubber bands too, to pull back my jaw because i had an overbite ( if you ever had shitty teeth you know what im talking about. I went into a 40' with half the speed i needed. Cased the shit out of it and all the little hooks stuck straight into my lips... ripped both my lips pretty bad

the last jump at MSLM was only a 45 ft but the snow was slow and I came into the jump and speedchecked too much, carved off forgetting about how slow the snow was threw a cork 5 was just bringing it the cork around and slammed onto the knuckle right on my back. bad day but surprised nothing was broken. ps never cal l last run

Its because theyre scared of big jumps. The stupid thing is by going like 2 feet bigger theyd clear it and be legit but they never will. Scared of getting hurt so they case it all day and rape their knees and back. Brilliant

I see it all day everyday in the parks though. They never learn

First day at the north face open at stratton, jump was about 70 feet and the guy told me to tuck in all the way. Tucked in popped as hard as i could and came up 10 feet short and left a crater in the knuckle. Ended up having to start 100+ feet up to just barley clear with a straight air for the rest of the day

Tanner is that you? Balls of steel, ankles of ankles.

One time I sent what I was hoping would be a 7 on the last jump in Inferno at Mount Snow. It must've been at least 55, but could've been more. Knuckled at 540 and bounced outta it. Air got knocked outta me and I had to spend some time chilling because my back hurt so badly...but no lasting issues, thankfully.

Was at Alpine Meadows on a pow day for a comp. The main air in my line was a flat-takeoff stepdown to pow. Dropped in, skied up to it. Pointed it from WAYY to far up the run and overshot to a massive frontside breaking my 4 day old skis.

I hate overshooting more, probably because it happens to me wayyy too often. Nothing worse than launching a fat booter wayy too big and getting all that time to realize how fucked you are. Took the WV booter to gucci/flat on several occasions because they did major tweaks to it multiple times.

My minor overshoot/ overotation trying to 3 the second kicker in kings crown. First time three-ing anything that big and I broke my arm.

Haha i really like how the guy filming has no reaction at all

We all know and love the big waterville step up, in the 11-12 season I cased it so hard I thought that my nuts were ripped off from the impact
