The offical "ask a U of U student a question" thread

i'm pretty sure utah is statistically either the dumbest or second dumbest state in the country, so you don't have to be very smart.

the cops are douchebags.  in my experience anyway.

sorry to bump an old thread, but could someone post a picture of their dorm room?

it's college applying time for me, and this is my main choice.

ASK A REALIST ABOUT YOUTAH....

fuck youtah, fuck salt lake, fuck college. if you put the 120k you spend on school into a house you would be alot better off in life. bird and alta are tracked out by 5,000 out of towners and college kids 10 am. and solitude sucks, so does powder mountain, and snowbasin isnt that great either.

the place is a dive. the cops suck, CWOOD heights has 34 new cruisers, u get caught smoking weed in utah and your life is over. its like 2,000 dollar in fines plus counseling, courtfees, drug test fees plus you have to go to AA for 6 months, and you can leave utah without permission from a judge.

there is construction on every road, there is construction on detours, there are 75 grocery stores, 5 walmarts, 4 bestbuys about 10 malls within 10 miles of the school. salt lake is the deffenition of urban sprawl.

someone is going to hit and run on your car at least once a year, it will also get broken into once a year, and ask kristie it might even get stolen

also in the summer its 110 degrees, in the winter it doesnt snow too much. you just get random storms then it gets warm.

you will probably get a respatory infection living in salt lake because of the poor air quality. there are days in the winter when you should seriously walk around all day with a particle mask on. the sky turns orange and the air is worse than LA or bejing. but yea its a dope place!!! really close to park city!!!!

It doesn't cost that much. I think this semester for me it was like 8g's and if you live in the dorms it is like another 5 with a meal plan per semester, so around 24-25 a year. Still a lot but not 30. Plus if you stay over the summer you can get instate the next year and if you live off campus it would probably be around half of that.

Nothing worse than some transplant from the east coast who claims instant local status after 2 years then is a condescending dick to everyone because they feel they have earned it.

I realize you are being sarcastic with that stuff. But in other threads I have seen you call out crowds the mountain and shit getting skied off. You moved there what a year or two ago? You are part of the problem. Every state has instalocals brought by school, mountains or waves. Just because you move somewhere doesn't mean your a local. At least out in the water you get put in your place, we just need to find a way to do that on the mountain.

dude snowbladeguy, what is your deal? all you do is hate on utah. i'm assuming you live elserwhere so why does this state you hate so much even concern you? get a fucking life man...

All I am trying to do is educate unknowing people. It is like Mormon people going on a mission, if they can convert 2 people in their 2 years, then it's a success. If I can convince 2 people in 2 years about how shitty Utah is then god will provide me salvation.

I'm visiting on Thursday for Unight or whatever its called..what is it?

I'm really excited to go though, almost done with my application

what the fuck?! damn dude you have a lot to learn about life dog. one love homies fuck the haters!

You really make everyone from utah hate you, not utah. You're also making yourself look like a complete ass and make me and other hate you and potentially where you come from. You = Fail.

I hope I get it. I'm a Junior in high school so I have to get my grades up. This school seems like the perfect fit for me though.

FAIL...

check your facts before you call people out dumb breath. and I thought u love hating on Utah, u should be in agreement, place sucks don't come here. o and ur gay

yea at first i thought he was in love with utah thats why he got butt hurt about my comments, turns out hes just a total douche.

im comin up on my 5 th year in this area, 2 straight years up in alta, not many people have the oppurtunity to experience that. i see alta every day, i see it when there are 6000 people skiing it or when the road is closed and there are like 100. i see it in the summer when there are like 10 people around all day, unless its the weekend when the city comes up.

instalocal no. spent some time in the hills and have a grasp of what these mountains are about and how they feel more so than most salt like city local who comes up once or twice a week or has never even been up here...... which really do exist.

you'll regret not doing it.

the u also has a way sick bc course. it's 2 credits and you basically just get to hang out in the backcountry with a bunch of way sick skiers. pure stoke.

u of u is just so much closer (30 minutes versus 2 hours) to the mountains than U of C. sounds like the place for me.

isn't it way more expensive to go there than to go to university in canada?

cause im thinking either u of vancouver or u of u or u of boulder, but price is a huge issue and i know marks won't be...

what should i do!?!

tahoe is complete garbage compared to any utah resort,
and the U prolly is a better school
and is pretty cheap for out of state

idk man one of my friends gets some decent stuff... but its so expensive out there. back home we get wayyyyy better shit for the same price

Well i'm used to getting my shit medically in california so everything does suck compared to back home...but to what alek said, squaw and alpine are really fucking legit resorts but it costs so much $$ to ski there. but Salcedo doesn't understand how crazy fluffy and light the snow is out here in utah...its unbelievable dude plus ive been skiing 4 days already i guarantee you havent and won't for quite some time. plus the people are 10x more fun than anybody i've met in tahoe besides my own friends.
