The Next Generation Of Skiing

hell yea i remember when i would watch happy days and it would get me stoked to ski for like a week now ski movies dont get me that stoked, i think the film indresty has fucked it up!

i dont think anyone or anything ruined skiing, i just think that the natural progression of the sport whitch every rider and each industry tries to push again and again makes the sport always bigger and it forms small groups of people on the mountain witch has a different trend than the others, they use to hang like tights-pants-guys and other group like baggy-gangsters just bitch each others cause their tastes is not the same or people without pole is a great exemple. The evolution of the industry and the pushing of the sport change people and than its all the haters fault because their taste is not the same as the others so they keep hating on everybody however theu forget we have the love of the sport in common even if we dont see it the same way . unfortunately we cant change anything, like any other thing its the natural evolution of the sport and we cant go back as if we were a family cause skiing has done his way.

Also an important thing that too much newchool people tend to forget is the origin of the sport: skiing, not just park-ratting, skiing powder and learn the base is the source of the sport like tanner says it perfectly. its no just hitting 3 foot rails with mommified-ducktaped skis and hiking the rail all day long...this is an important point i think too much people forget these days when they begin to ski. keep in mind the best skiers in the world began etiher racing or mogul skiing they did not hit a rail the firdt time
 
word dude + mad karma for you thats what skiings about, i mean ill even see some newschoolers on the mountain and theyll still be dicks to people thats what gets me ripshit

Jon should bring back his d-spin 900/1080 tail grab, he did them so smooth it was ridiculous, probably my favorite trick ever. Good thread, makes me feel old even though I'm still in college.
 
Word, i feel old too. The good old days of skiing . It was way more fun to ski without video cameras and worrying about how you looked. I still live in those days, one of the few i guess.
 
wow you need to get over yourself bud. Of course everyone loves the old days in skiing, it just so happens everyone loves it as much as you though which is why there are so many of us on the mountains nowadays. Do you think your the only person working a full time job so that you can afford to ski? Do you think your the only person that saves a large chunk of that money to finance a road trip with friends? NO YOU ARE NOT. We are all in the same boat here and it doesn't help when you do things like bitch about things like people hating on you on the mountain, then go and hate on somebody because their opinion is different than yours.

All that being said the sport has evolved and will continue to evolve, it's life, get used to it because there's nothing you can do to change it.
 
yeah skiing seems to have reached a certain place, and if your not doing what everyone else is doing, or wearing whatever everyone else is wearing, if your not afterbanging everything, your not cool, there is hardly any room for variety.back around 2000, there were new ideas and new styles you would see every day, and everyone was stoked on it. ive gotten so much hate for riding the way i do, i wear tight pants, no poles, i dont like doing very tech stuff, and most the time im just goofing around, like hitting the side of the landings for takeoffs and just doing shit in wierd ways, and ive gotten so much hate. not many people say it to my face, but people on the lift will yell shit, and i can hear people in the line saying shit about how i dress cause i dont have the newest 5xl g-suit with 5 tall t's sticking out. one of my really good friends is sorta like me in how he ski's but he kills it like crazy, and people make fun of him for dressing differently all the time. its just stupid, like if i was an outsider looking at skiing how it is now, i would hate it, and really i think i can say i dont like skiing as it is now. all the thug as shit edits that are all the exact same, the huge lack of creativity the attitude etc.... its just a pathetic sport.but that doesnt mean i dont like skiing, its still my favorite thing to do ever.the only people out there doing anything original and for themselves are the nimbus crew and the hot lunch crew. they are whats keeping my faith in skiing.
