Actually, control for resources and the struggle for power are the biggest causes for killing in this world. Religion is the propaganda and the platform for keeping the people in line, on a conservative, constrained, and restricted perspective and thought process. It's really quite brilliant: you take humans, a rather unenlightened bunch as a whole, with no real answers to our most intriguing questions and give them religion, which quenches their thirst for direction. In order have the masses follow the leaders, they must be persuaded and the fear of God, especially in Western religions (i.e. Catholicsm, the variations of Christianity), and in addition Islam, is one of the best ways to control the people.

People in power want control, but in order to control you must first satisfy the pawns who will fight your wars.

Of course that is some highly controversial material and I doubt it is entirely accurate, but there is definitely some truth to it.

My only real point is that regligion is the excuse, power and resource control are the reasons.

Oh, and to address the subject matter of the post (sorry its so late in my post), many Germans during WWII were against the agenda of Hitler. In fact, Hitler survived at least one (if not more) assassination attempts from his own party. Many people knew what was happening and just simply did nothing to stop it because it BENEFITTED THEM. Hitler was one of the most motivational and powerful leaders in the history of our species. Unfortunately, he was fucking insane and evil. He was able to convince the people of a ludicrous idea because they were in economic and social strife.

Just like humans as a whole, seeking existential answers, the Germans followed under Hitler because he promised them greatness, the answer to their domestic economic and social problems.

Oh yeah, and Im on vicodin, so don't get all pissed off at me, NS, I'm just discussing.

Yes, the struggle for power is the killer, but the religion is what the people follow. They dont follow someones need for power. Religion is a form of mind control, and it is has been the cause of many millions of deaths. befor you say "religion isnt mind control" think about how you were brought up, and which out of all the religions on the planet is the "right" one. Its all diffrent people trying to control us in diffrent ways. I dont know alot about the history of religions, and they might not have started that way, but it is what they have evolved into.

We live in a paradox. We crave order and leadership, yet all through out history, Power has crupted the people who its been given to, or we have been tricked or forced into giving it to croupt people. religion has been the medium and the catalyst for most of the killing in our history.

I am not saying that religion is a bad thing, i am saying that it has been in the wrong hands and been used improperly. Its amazing how people can twist the doctrine into meaning just about anything.
