The new gopro has been released

would someone be so kind as to sparknote me the difference between the two? i'm trying to decide between them

my dad knows someone who was doing some work with gopro so i got her to pick me up a camera cause she just got back from a huge trade show in vegas and gopro had a booth there. i got their demo camera and it does have 1080p. its legit.

Read the page for 2 seconds it's right there. The 960 doesn't have 1080p @ 30fps or 720p @ 60fps. And no mount for a BacPac. Pretty useless IMO

Can someone explain why it is useless?

you only need the 60fps for high quality slo-mo and 720p 30fps is good for normal viewing

I probably wouldnt use the missing features too much, I just want a little camera that dusnt cost the earth, was going to buy a standard def hero so this seems a better option for me personally.

if you dont have a steady income or a sponsorship deal with them, like a lot of people do here. it will work.

After i while i would imagine you will want more options, its a "okay" substitute, but i think the lack of different modes will become annoying on the days you want a 1080p time lapse or to shoot some epic slow-mo cliff jumping.

So my recommendation, save up and get the HD, much more features for the money,

i used 960p (r4) all season lat year. it has the best field of view, and looks sick, especially if uploaded and edited in HQ (as opposed to using the smaller file size). you aren't missing anything, so stoked they came out with this option to save people $120.

GoPro 960 = piece of shit version of the hero. No 720p 60 or 1080p. therefore it has been deemed worthless by myself.
