It was a pretty interesting watch, however I found it to be a little too cliche and they WAY over used the follow cam.

Why waste your money on renting it when you can sit at home and not waste gas and download it

yeah, it was kinda hard to follow and the cinematography got kinda annoying. astomp its an indie movie so i dont really think that like, blockbuster or whatever would have it, they might though. my friend and i decided that if there was an award for 'most potential for being funny if dubbed over', ELEPHANT would win it

'pet what? pet her kneecap farrel'

well the point of the movie was to show the horror of Littleton and how your normal life could be changed so easily it was pretty good and the silence of it makes you think about stuff.

Yeah we got the demo last year and man it was a pretty disturbing movie. The cinamatography, though repetitive, does add some extra effect to the movie. Just get's you into it I guess.

Oh and let me say, after all that time since I watched it, some scenes are still stuck in my head, can recall some in the most detail.

^ exactley, It's been like 6 months since i've seen it last and I can remember most scenes...especially the one when the boy was playing the piano...and when he kills his accomplice like he doesn't give two shits.

Bush in '04-When keeping it real goes wrong!

it was definately shot like that for a reason, the loooong sequences. i think partly it was to build tension because you knew what was going to happen and everything was taking so long and you were never sure when it was going to start.

That movie was made here in Oregon(Portland i think) and my friends went to see the premier of it, they got to meet the guys that were in it too.

sweet^, it was pretty whack and random when like, the two cafeteria guys smoked a joint and then the two guys made out in the shower, wtf...and regarding the long, soundless walking around parts, i definitely made good use of the fast forward button hah

i know im ressurecting, but this movie is very good. you have to be in the mood for it though. sooo depressing. it makes you think sooo much. its like after you watch it, you kind of just float through the rest of the day. you can just like watch it casually though with a few drunk friends switching between it and porn. so good. so disturbing.

back to the original

definately disturbingg! but why was it called elephant my friend and icouldnt figure it out, the only thing we could think of was that one time when they were showing the kids room there was a blalnket that had an elephant on it

I found it at Blockbuster so I would assume you guys shouldn't have a problem finding it.

yeah i think its called elephant because elephants never forget. just like you can never forget the horrors that happened.

im bumping this thread. i watched the movie last night. missed the first 6 mins but still intense.. very intense.. good flick and felt super short/long hard to describe.

the main character his name is nathan and he went to highschool with me and was shot in Portland Oregon... Pretty good tho.. acting is alittle ehh but still good message.

it is loosely based on columnbine, Gus Van Sant's last three movies have all been loosely based on some story. If you thought the camera shots were long in Elephant though, you should rent Gerry, the first shot is like 5 minutes long, all of a car driving. its ridiculous, but somehow, you get into it, and start noticing things, its wierd. and his Latest movie, Last Days, has some really tedious shots in it too, but it works for the films.

The purpose of the follow-cam cinematography I think was to really immerse you in all the characters experiences of high school, which is the basic pretense of the movie: the experience of high school.
