yes I have and it does feal fast but my computer never felt slow to begin with.

i looked up that piece in regedit and mine says 0x00000003 (3) so you just changed it to 0x00000001 (1) ?

 
Double click on the text next to that and then change the value from 3 to 1.

look for enable prefetcher then double click and change the value rom 3 to 1

Just so you know, this doesn't "speed up" your machine at all. Prefetching is basically the OS loading some of the files of commonly used programs into the memory, so they are there already when you need to run them.

While it may make your system SEEM faster, it actually hogs system resources for more memory-heavy tasks such as video editing, graphic design,and gaming.

By default, prefetching is enabled in XP, but only on a lower level. It was never "new"technology in Longhorn to speed your computer up, it's been around since XP came out, and enabled automatically.

yes prefetching has been in XP from the start and is standard in windows XP. this is not about Prefetching. this is about a feature called superfetch which is an addition to prefetching and is a feature that was anounced as a new Windows Longhorn feature.

and I dont know about superfetch because its new to me but prefetching definitly makes Video editing and 3d applicatioons work better and is not much of a memory hog.

haha as i scrolled through this thread i sat there chuckling to myself as i can simultaneously open a music player, a video player, msn, the internet and various games as soon as i turn on my computer and it takes under 4 seconds to load all of them fully. and you know what? i didnt change dick all to my presets, i just had the smarts to buy a mac. 4 seconds, for 6 programs to load. done. you guys suck.

it makes the windows load faster, i can deff. tell that, cas when i am running photoshop usually that takes up a lot of my vitual memory and makes other things go a bit slower, that doesnt really happen anymore.
