Say what you will but my blacklist hoodie(also 92 dollars) is far ahead of any other hoodie in terms of quality.

It must be nice to live such a sheltered life in which Jibberish is the end all of quality. It simply isn't, by a very, very large margin.

I understand that, but it is far beyond the 50 orage hoodie I have

Hahaha damn I thought it was just on mobile... I fucking quit.

P.S.- Jiberish sells glorified gaper jean jackets and a ski bum has never owned a $100 hoody in the history of mankind.

Does anybody mountain bike... HOLY SHIT! A solid DH rig is 5-9 grand. You can buy a car, years worth of ski gear, and copious amounts of drugs for that same price.

Yeah dud its unreal, but i guess they arent really "overpriced" there is just alot of time, engineering, and expensive materials

I saw some skis at the gorsuch store in beaver creek, CO that had a tag of 5K and I couldn't figure out why. Everything in gorsuch is marked up tho

Skis are pretty overpriced(fischer, vökl race skis)

what do you think is the most overpriced gear?

everything is overpriced. $600.00 for skis and $400.00 Boots for $400-$600 plus ski pass if you buy one.

people on the east skis 3-4 months, sucks to spend all that money jus for a short season.

well everything in life is overpriced these days

Got my Alpha SV for $400

Yeah I paid about the same for the Theta. It's still expensive but it's a hell of a jacket. I think people complaining about the price simply haven't looked around. Retail is for suckers.

Also scored some Arc Alpha SV vertical cut gloves for like $100 because I was obsessed with finding a deal on them. Total score. Best gloves of all time.

So yeah, there's pricey gear and then there's blatantly overpriced gear. The former may be expensive but it's the best of the best in terms of quality, durability and function. The latter- to me anyways- are simply "lifestyle" brands that cater to well-to-do people who want to portray an image and not necessarily help you stay warm, dry and out there as long as possible. I'd put Bogner, Jiberish and Dale's of Norway in this category for starters. Yes Kjus is unbelievably expensive, but at least it's legit ski gear.

I find that a lot of people make this mistake, thinking that "expensive" is the same as "over-priced". Quite often that which is expensive is often very expensive for the manufacturer to produce & bring to market, like ski boots for example. I actually find that the most overpriced things are the little things you buy everyday, like a can of Redbull or a tank of gas.

When it comes to hardgoods (skis, boots, bindings, bikes, etc) most everyone is struggling to make money (except the luxury brands). So if a Chris King hub retails for $400, there is a reason for its cost. No one doubts that it is expensive- that's pretty obvious. But I would argue that it is definitely not overpriced given its materials, where it was made, and how it was made.

Good delineation there.

With backcountry gear, function can be a matter of survival. Following the mittens example earlier: nice mitts can be the difference between frozen, unfunctioning fingers or being able to start the stove, put on skins, set the rappel, etc. These things aren't exactly optional when there's no lodge to warm up in.

This is exactly how I feel. If you are OUT THERE, the smallest thing going wrong can domino into a fucking catastrophe so fast it's fucking scary. Too many people overlook that IMO.

Amen.

I look at good gear as an investment in enjoying yourself too. If budget's a concern, I totally get that. But when I'm at play, I want to be unworried about the purchases I've made.

Maybe there's a confidence boost to wearing a nice cut and sew hoodie from a company you really like. Not my style, but I could see why it might matter to someone else. And better Jiberish than another flood of screen printed blanks.
