The most ignorance ive ever seen on fb

ok, lemme chop you up, eat your meat, use your bones to make coathangers and golf clubs, and throw away your eyeballs. that sound humane to you? humane is NOT the word you were looking for.

As far as I've been able to find there's not enough data to make an accurate statement regarding their conservation status.

"When a whale is in shallow water a hook is placed in its blowhole so that it may be dragged ashore. Once on land or immobilized in knee-deep water, a cut is made across its top near the blowhole to partially sever its head. The dead animals are then dragged further to shore after the remaining whales have been likewise killed." Sorry, but that is very inhumane. Could you imagine if we shoved hooks down cows' throats to drag them into the slaughterhouse before cutting their heads off?

Just to quadruple post this: Yes, the facebook thing is ridiculous. However, you're committing the same amount of exaggeration in the other direction. This isn't a black and white issue. It's solidly in the grey area of what is acceptable.

You just opened a whole other can of worms there. Now we're gonna get people talking about the awful living conditions of livestock. You could've stopped at double post, but no, you just had to go for the triple

There are some that would say the way both species are treated isn't morally wrong, but I think everyone could agree that both species could and should be treated better than they currently are.

This is true, and I forgot to mention it earlier. These creatures are extremely smart. Most domesticated animals (besides pigs) are not.

just for future reference since this shit is hitting europe over the next few days and my newsfeed will blow the shit up. i am writing this and asking if some of you can confirm me:

can you find the species "calderon dolphin" somewhere else or is it a legit name for pilot whales? i mean its definitely pilot whales who are not near extinction, but i googled "calderon dolphin" and while the wiki article pops up, the term is not in there and all other results deal with the "slaughtering".

it has nothing to with some sort of initiation rite. they actually use the animals for food and other stuff.

the whales are killed as fast as possible using a sharp knife .

so while i overall agree that its unnecessary in this day and age to kill the whales, the "article" makes false statements regarding the species and its extinction status. it furthermore states wrongfully that the animals are killed for fun and during an initiation act. and they are killed as fast as possible. the language of the article is clearly meant to raise emotion covering the obvious misuse of facts. "cry like a newborn child" and "they are playfully nosy and just want to play and interact with humans" are phrases with no actual meaning and are just intended to brainwash easy minds. AGAIN, i would appreciate if the faröer (another misused fact, they are literally independent in these issues) would stop it, but i cant blame them for doing it nor do i think it is as bad as people want it to be. to me, this is all about hypocrisis and trying to provoke emotion with false facts.

I've has Whale from Thorsen Islands, ita pretty good! And what they're doing is no different from normal fishing in the sea. Hooks to catch them, knives to kill them? Sounds like normal fishing to me, except they're a little bigger.
