Agreed, head is as core as it gets right now.
 
Someone's probably gonna get their jimmies rustled by me saying this but . Probably Vishnu . They literally make a product for the most niche market in the sport , are "rider owned" and run, and stay true to their vision . I don't know how a company could be more core . People will say some shit about their skis being made in China too but in my opinion I don't think that takes away from the genuine-ness of the brand as they still do what they do for the love of the sport . And those guys definitely love skiing .... You don't jump around on park benches with your dad cam if you don't truly love skiing
 
Salomon is likely the best answer. They have done more to make freeskiing possible than any other company. Think about their early twin tips, revolutionizing the game. Some of their outerwear as well helped define our sport's style. They have solid offerings, year after year after year.
 
Line. People are going to say "o yeah but they don't listen to us and they sold out". First off, that's always been the point of line, making skis and not giving two shits what people who don't ride them think about them. Second, they sold out to k2, go look what skis k2 is making. They sold out to company and still were allowed to make any ski they want, so fuck outa here with the sellout shit

I stumbled on Unscripted the other day and after watching it I realize Joss is the biggest tool ever. I don’t blame them for dropping him.
 
Say what you want about these euro brands getting into free ski, but isn’t volkl one of the bigger slvsh sponsors? I know the high lighter thing is meme-able but slvsh has given me a lot of joy. I don’t mind calling one who helps support something like that core.
 
It’s without a doubt Salomon. Anyone that thinks differently must believe this sport just started 5 years ago (seems to be about 50% of this site these days).

The OP's question is really too open ended to answer but for those of us who were around during those days, Salomon was a huge game changer. When the 1080s came out with their cool robot graphics and twin tips it was a huge shift for skiing, before twin tips skiing was seen as something square that our parents did and all the 'cool' kids went to snowboarding. I actually still have my Pocket Rockets in my basement. The younger kids take freeskiing/newschool for granted and the culture that has been built but back then it was literally nothing then suddenly we had these badass twin tips to hit the park while wearing Burton jackets and Giro bad lieutenant helmets. That was when Rossignol got in the game soon after with the Scratch series and K2 came out with the Seth Pistols etc

As far as the original 'Core' brand, I am going to have to say 4FRNT. These guys were never super successful but they were really the first brand to be completely rider owned and controlled with very unique signature models. Its basically the format that Vishnu, On3P etc. have picked up today.

I learned on a pair of 05 rossignol scratches. Think my aunt skis them now lol. Still in the family.

Unpopular opinion but armada is not super core due to ownership, it is owned by Amer sports which also owns other ski companies such as atomic a salomon which people wouldn't consider core.
 
Any brand that claims to be core is fake and therefore NOT core.

the real most core brand is Line. Hate em all you want but there isn’t really another freestyle oriented company who has done more in park skiing.

If you don't see atomic/salomon as core you are dumb. Both brands have so much rental equipment at different hills which is the most core money making move you can do in the ski industry.

Actually false as well they are not owned by one of the big conglomerates as are many other more “core” brands their main focus is skis

What definition of Core are we talking? Companies that hold a large percentage of sales in the industry or ones that represent freeskiing well? I always thought core was companies that hold a lot of business in the industry
