I've found it. It's on a custom chassis, with a 1928 Dodge Sedan body on it, and a Cummins B Series 12-valve diesel engine (lifted from a 1998 Dodge Ram). and it's gorgeous.

despite the fact it looks a bit unfinished, the amount of detail that went into making it perfect the "rat rod" look is astounding (and creative). the rear bumper is made from 2 pistons out of an excavator engine and the dash/console was made from parts salvaged from old farm equipment. I'm in love.

Aha I'm acctually pulling out a 49 Fargo truck that was my grandpas before he passed away. Been sittin in the bush for 17 years and I'm hoping to get her going. Eventual plan for it is make it a street truck with a cummins 4bt and Dana 60 rear swap with posi. The current flathead 6 in there wouldn't take much to get running but it's a sloppy motor.
 
that sounds like a sick project. keeping the original motor would be pretty sick though, just to keep it all vintage. and if you were willing to put an amount of money into it, Im sure you could make it all work without being as 'sloppy'. Also, adapting a more modern engine like a 4BT to fit that truck might be tough. i know nothing about diesels but that seems daunting to me lol

well thats sorta the point. and i can see how some might think it's ugly but it fulfills the ratrod look perfectly. and i think its sexy as fuck lol
 
holyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy fuck im jealous. did you build it or buy it? the converted jeep bodies are sick but sorta uncommon, this looks amazing though, good job.

also the tractor seat back above the rear axle is awesome
 
Yeah I hope I get around to doing something with it, It deserves some justice, and its a truck my grandpa never got to do his thing with.

The rear axle swap, if the stock one is a bust, should be easy, just have to find some good leafs and shackles to adapt it with. If the current axle looks alright, then I'll use it, sandblast it and overhaul the thing, ideally if i keep the rear axle or put a Dana 44 or 60 in it, I'd like to put disk brakes on it, which will be daunting as hell (the front dead axle would get the same treatment if the rears were to receive disks)

The engine/transmission swap would be decent to do, the problem with that is the logistics of adding a computer to power a Cummins 4BT (The 4BT is a newer motor and would need a computer and harness from a newer vehicle to make it run, which sucks, but its the only way...) The current inline 6 would be cool to get running, and flathead motors are some of the most reliable engines ever with their low parts count... but their odd shaped combustion chambers didn't exactly give these motors alot of balls.

In the end I can envision this thing as a lowered street truck, two tone paint, white on the bottom, yellow on the top, sky blue pinstripe splitting the blue, nice basic interior, something that's comfortable and close to original, brushed aluminium action going on in there. Chrome 5 Spokes all around with some nice disk brakes, and ideally, that dana 60 posi rear, with some trailing arms to put the power of a cummins 4bt mated to some 5 or 6 speed manual trans. Wood flatdeck that is capped with aluminium rails would also look great. But for now I'd like to get it running and maybe get it on the road, looking sort of "as is" Not really a rat rod, but close. I have big ambitions, but they may not happen, all a matter of TIME and MONEY...

damn thats sick, I'm impressed at how well you have that planned out already. i would personally just chop it and drop it haha the patina it has is pretty nice and the fact that its totally natural makes it waaaay cooler IMO

i dont know if you have the means to make the engine suitable for a rod but that truck could be made into an unreal ratrod
