just wondering why someone would spend money on that

isn't the point of phones and tablets to be in your hands?
 
is there anything to stop the tablet from falling off sideways? also what happens if you push to hard near the base? it seems like it would be able to fall off forward.

I can see a few uses for it though.
 
50$ is a little steep for that. as others have said, when you use the thing, its normally in your hand.

but whatever, worth a try
 
If I really wanted that, I would take 5 nails and line three up in a line, the one an inch above the line, to the sides.. Would sit my Iphone up on the wall... and it would cost $0.10... instead of $50.
 
There is silicon inside of the "groove" that will keep the tablet from "sliding" around.

To those who are saying it's expensive, in reality it's not. Do you know how much it costs to get a block of aluminum CNC machined? Probably not, if you do, then great.

I know I use it in my kitchen for cooking/recipe's. Sorry I am older than many of the NS crowd. I also have one near my bed for my phone to charge.

I have uses for it, others will too. Some may like the idea and some may not. It's a way of life.
 
The iphone ledge is 25.....the tablet ledge is 50.00

Some people want a modern wall mount that is appealing and clean looking. Others like yourself want nails. To each their own.
 
I require clarification on this statement. Are you saying that your "way of life" is a shelf?
 
Clarification is: some people like items/products/ideas/marketing/advertising and others don't. Can't please everyone.
 
how easy would it be to throw a 2x4 over a table saw and make that "invention" for free? hell you can even sand it and paint it to make it look all contemporary to match your ipad.

that is exactly what I have been looking for. I ALWAYS need to put my iphone and ipad on the wall, and never knew there was a product for that!
 
I dunno who's machine you're using, but they're ripping you off big time. we have a milling machine that would take at most 20 minutes to make one of those after it's all set up and it's not one of the fancy computer controlled ones that will do them 3 times as fast easy. Are they charging you $300 an hour or something?

When you are doing a run that isn't large enough, it costs a decent amount. I helped create the video and I'm helping promote the product. As far as actual costs, he hasn't shown me the exact numbers.

Working a stable job (being a grown-up), to me $25-$50 isn't a bad price. The target market isn't exactly 12-18 year olds. In this case, the parents would be.

The pre-production models are pretty expensive to make due to the fact there are only a handful being made. It's essentially bulk ordering. The more you make, the price decreases. Supply and demand, basic economics. I'm going to assume everyone knows this.

Anyways, for that iphone/tablet tech who wants the most sleek looking wall mount, this may appeal to them. To skiers who want to use nails and wood and save some money, that may work for them too.

With all of that being said, I made the product available for everyone on NS to see. Some will like it and some won't. We hope that you will support it.

and its so expensive because its CNC machined from aluminium and anodized..... neither are cheap manufacturing process.
 
good luck with it. there is definitely a market. but a lot of people, myself included, will think it's a bit of a ripoff. especially if one can walk 2 minutes outside to the machine shop and grab a chunk of aluminum and do it themselves. and even get it anodized for practically free. granted, by the time it's all said and done I could have made that much working a job.

run it by stores for retirees like Lee Valley and see if they'll stock it. seems like something they'd love to have.
 
the people hating on this obviously dont have a tablet

i got an iPad 2 about a week ago, and you can get free movies on it and shit. it would be clutch to have one of those near your bed or wherever you want, shit put one on the wall in front of the shitter, GOLD. haters can fuck off you dont even know
 
if i had an iphone of ipad or w.e i would just make one of those out of a piece of hardwood, 50 bucks to put your phone on the wall......
 
The cost is actually fairly cheap. I've used them for engraving and since it's aluminum it should be pretty easy...

I do think it is really expensive though and kind of unnecessary, but I can see it getting more popular if TV and movies become more popular on tablets/smartphones.
 
NOW THERE IS A LEGIT USE

IMO the video & description would have been better if it had more practical applications of the product instead of DOFy shots of it over and over & trying to justify the price by saying it is anodized, CNCed, & made of 6061 aluminum (pretty much standard aluminum) because 25-50 bucks to the target market really isn't that much
