The importance of amateur content

Next couple years. I plan on making a street part when I move up to state college next fall. Probably a two year project to get enough clips. Hell I might put something little out this winter if we get enough snow and I can hit enough spots here in town.

If u make a trip up to buf for some urban I gotcha if u need a filmer or point you in some places that might have decent spots that aren’t residential?

This is something I’ve thought about for a while now. I thoroughly enjoy watching lower levels of well executed skiing, whether that be park clips or street edits. Not only do I just personally prefer style over tech anyways, but I think I like watching these style of videos a lot more simply because they’re more “relatable” or “feasible”. Like you can watch all the clips and be like ayo I can do that or ayo I could do that. Nothing to take away from the bigger guys tossing insane shit, but I think these lesser known parts, edits, etc hold a very important weight in the ski world.

Like I love love love watching street edits from smaller name guys that I’ve either never heard of or barely heard of. Nothing crazy. Just some chill 2 1/2 mins of someone hitting handrails and neat spots will do it for me. Like I said these small name parts/ edits being put out, especially street skiing, hold just as much importance in the community as say full length films being put out by big name crews like Child Labor or Strictly.

Lowkey I feel like there’s lots of kids out there mad inspired (as I am) by some of the stuff on the arsenic YouTube channel for example. Not the biggest or craziest street skiing or park edits. But they all carry a good vibe and good skiing. Like I bet kids watch these edits and see skiers just straight sliding hand rails and having a good time with their homies and get stoked as hell cause they’re like yo I can do that what’s holding me back from doing the same and getting some shots and making an edit with my homies?

TLDR the amateur and beginner side of content creation is just as important in skiing, if not more important than professional content production. Quite frankly I love it.

like honestly, i get most of my inspo from am edits. because for my part - i've seen the "pro" shit way to much on perma broadcast online anyway. Chances you find something unique or interesting one gets inspired by is so much higher on these am edits. love me going through some #nsfamous and look for real rippers that dont care and just ski for their own. its sick.

Agreed. AM content, specifically local to me, is my favorite to watch. Relatable and motivates me more to progress and find new features/spots.

Also, I’m dropping and AM movie of my friends and I around Oregon here soon…stay tuned!

Gonna keep an eye out for both of those

Just dropped. "No Groups" by A Group Of Friends.

Cheers.

I am so excited for the random little ski film premiers this ski movie season. Amateur productions are always a vibe and help push the sport
