The illest things to happen on skis will NEVER be seen on film....

why do football teams watch fb footage? to figure out what theyre doing wrong. i know personally i realized my arms were all over the place from watchig film so i worked on it, its a way of seeing what your doing wrong as well as having fun. i like seein shots of myself because i dont, i know what the tricks like but not what it looks like and its fun to see it to me

i mostly do have to agree with you

but i think its good to film stuff if its for your own sake and to see what your doing wrong or could do better or to just make a video with your buddies if you like editing/filming

but if its to do it just to put up and say "look at me hit this sick rail" or whatever then i think thats just stupid

I don't really agree with you.

When I am either behind or in front of the camera, I am in the moment, as a skier or as a filmmaker.

i do agree that reps should be on the hill riding with people and sponsoring them that way. i know riders that have no sponsors and could blow a good amount of the pros away with what they do on a daily basis. but thats the thing. they dont do it for the money or the gear. they doo it for the love of the sport. that is what is truly important when it all comes down to it.

having a camera on definately ups the level of skiing.. i'm all for it. filming is fun too so do whatever you want that's gonna make the trip fun for you. watching the footage at the end of the day with some sodas and a dilly bar is almost as much of a good time as the actual skiing

I normally work on stuff for the year, filming at comps only for the most part, then spend a couple days filming

haha, good point to generalize, but there are people where this isn't the case. of the 4 urbans i've done so far this year, only one of them has been filmed, and i think that tape got ruined. so like everything, there are exceptions. and i do urbans to improve my rail skills, and cause there fun and i don't have to go to far to do them.

i must say i agree. Other than comp footage, I have very little footage of myself. I don't like to take the time to film and photograph and I don't ski with people who want to take the time to film or photograph. It just takes too long. After putting together my sponsorship vid, I stopped filming. And I like it.

i usually dont bother filing until the end of the season when it is warmer, easier, and your skills are much better, and you can push yuorself harder because conditions allow you to

really though, watching other kids throw down does help motivate... like without it i wouldn't really know what other kids out there are doing. but as far as the filming thing goes, get a trick down solid, then go film.

Half of the cool things I have ever done are not on film, nor should they be. If companies want to pay me to endorse their product, it becomes my job to film and get myself out there. However, that is not the case now and so I ski for the fun of it.

HAHAHAHAHAH. You hate 4bi9 SOOOOO much, for no apparent reason. Shut the fuck up.... We actually hardly film in the park. And if you have a $2000 camera why would you not use it? I guarantee if you had people that loved to film and had legit gear you'd film any urban you did. Shut up, and quit hating on 4bi9 so much. It's sorta played.... I mean, it's what everyone was doing in September and October.

Welcome to 2007 you dick. I hate you.

Ohhh, and at the moment we have someone just off of a broken ankle, and another person with a broken collar bone..... and some pretty sick camera gear. It would make sooooo much sense for those people to just sit at home that go have fun filming. And then when we get off the hill and they can't go out and and do other shit, they should DEFINITELY be bored instead of editing the days footy which they love.

In the end, you love skiing, and some people love editing. Skiing can be rewarding when you stomp a new trick or whatever......editing can be rewarding when you post an edit and people like it. It's just another way to combine two things you love..... skiing and video editing.

Now quit yer bitchin.

Your just mad cus kids are getting hurd on this site and you arent cus you dont have a camera and cant be steezy like most teh people on here that posts vids. I enjoy the vids there fun to watch and always have good music in em and pump me up to go skiing. Filming is also tons of fun to just see what you can come up with by yourself its satisfying but if you wanna just bitch go for it

1. movies are fun to watch

2. movies are fun to make

3. movies are inspirational- they might makey you want to try something new.

4. pple have fun being filmed.

5. filming makes you progress

6. this is all a summary of everything everyones just said.

hey kid. your a fucking queer. just cuz u dont have friends who will film you because they like it, and furthermore because you couldnt do anythign steezed. dont fuckin hate on other kids. yeh some kids post shitty edits on this site but it makes them ahppy and helps them figure out what they do wrong. get over the fact that people are better than you, buy a gun, and knock your block off before i run through your pockets deucshce

^suck my nuts. Thats the thing, you think I suck at skiing just cause I dont have any video footage, who gives a fuck? I have footy, im just not worried about showing it to the public. So what, none of my friends want to film, good for them. Skiing is not about filming for us, its about riding, thats it. To each his own, Fuck you for trying to downplay my shit.

Nice, resorting to name calling , are u in fucking middle school? For fucks sake mang. What are you an online gangster now? Skiing isnt fucking hard if you spend alot of time doing it, at all. I didnt intend to start an online flame war here, the thread was actually going great until you blew up at me. If this is the way you represent your 'company', wow you are going nowhere fast.

i agree with you on some of that shit, but the whole 4bi9 thing, they are really sick, i love watching those edits cause it makes me wana go ski, so i hope they dont stop

I enjoyed this post and I think your absolutely right, because I know some kids that just film all the time and suck but they make good videos just cause they film absolutely everything, though I know skiers that could kick there asses but don't film anything...

This is why comps are good, companies look at your competitions more than anything because they want someone who can win

anyway just ski for fun, who cares about all that shit. If you just ski for fun and end up being really good at it, then you will get sponsors and shit. And usually it is the skiers that just love skiing and having fun who get that good.

a lot of people ski and film for the sake of producing an edit, and improving their filming/editing skills. its not always just about getting sponsored or "getting the shot".

Apparently you ski with a retarded group of people because skiing shouldn't go an slower with a camera then it does without. It's also not that hard to switch who films each run, if no one else wants to film then don't film. With our group of friends none of us mind filming at all.

There will be times when I would rather film people for a few runs than to hit shit, I find filming fun and if wat you're saying is that people should go out to ski to have fun than I don't see what I'm doing wrong here. People enjoy different things, sorry it's hard to grasp the concept that the point of filming isn't always to "get the shot."

Anyways we are gonna keep on putting out edits regardless of whether you like it or not. Many of the kids I ride with enjoy editing as do I and why not share them with other people. You may not want to see other people skiing but I'm sure there other people who do. So if you don't like it then don't watch it... theres no need to rant about the topic.

Peaccce

i may be one of the kids your talking about, and it doesnt discourage me a bit, i love filming editing and skiing, and i think it takes just as much talent to put together a nice edit with good variety, think about it in competitions what do u need, you need a few banger tricks to put together a run, when you can film and do tricks every which way and have all sort's of style and variety i think thats key, filming instigate's style and progression so why bash

"This thread spawns from some of the 4bi9 shit that i see on here all the time like "OMG did you see our Edit!!111" No i didnt, because I dont care about how good you are, I care about my own skills and perfecting those."

Every 4bi9 edit is sick mang. They are a new film company and they upload these videos on here and their website to try and get their name out. Its obviously working because I've allready made up my mind to buy their movie movie this year...

aahahahahahaha you are redik

i like hwo you say "to each his own" right after posting a thread about how gay filming is, AND no shit skiing isnt hard if you spend alot of time doing it i bet you would be pretty good at fucking yourself if you spent alot of time on it too.

i agree. however it is helpful to film when putting together a movie if you want to make a movie but thats usually a small part of your season. plus no one has to be the filmer person all day instead of skiing.
