The human race is awesome...

while many people tend to focus on the horrific and tragic moments of human history (some wars, sprinkled in with some genocide, and other moral attrocities), they seem to forget how FUCKING AWESOME the human race is. While many inferior races specialize in certain aspects of awesomeness (bears are awesome because they are beasts, whales are the pimps of the ocean, kangaroos can jump high, cheetas are fast, etc...). Humans on the other hand kick ass every category of awesomeness. Here are some examples of why we are so fucking awesome:

-athletic prowess: the olympics is a great example of individual acheivements, the sport of football pits 2 teams of armored gladiators against one-another in combat, soccer requires incredible skill and coordination, golf is intense, etc....

-scientific skills: we put a fucking man on the moon, we're in space right now, we know a lot of shit about a lot of shit, we can design, engineer and build incredibly elaborate machines, structures, electronics, etc....

-artistic ability: this category isn't too important to me personally, but it definately helps lighten the mood in times of distress.

These poorly structured reasons lead me to believe that if we as a race is to ever face an ELE (extinction level event, for those who dont listen to busta rhymes), we'll figure it out. Heck, Billy Gates already has the ball rolling in attempts to fix climate change.

And when the aliens do come and start causing beef, we can equip some NFL players with space marine-esque power armor and weapons and we will dominate.

the best thing about humans is that we will never go extinct due to environmental competition. natural selection made the dinosaurs extinct... natural selection made the wooly mammoth and the dodo extinct... but not us. natural selection is whatever the fuck humans say it is

I would just like to point out that, even though art may not be very important to you, its the reason every building you see isnt a grey, cement, rectangle. and why everyone doesnt wear matching white jumpsuits. to add to that, the design you mentioned in the scientific feild is actually a form of art even though its purpose is for utility.

Other than that, you pointed out alot of things that people definitely overlook. good job.

[just the fact i can tell you that from where i am, to where you are is awesome in its self.]

artistic ability really means that you are so good at something that you dont even think about what youre doing anymore you just let your thoughts and mental state be expressed in the product that you create.

we define our own means of subsistance. we kind of "side-stepped" evolution when we started farming and stopped being hunter-gatherers.

while every other species lets their surrounding environment define their thoughts and actions, we have created a world for ourselves which lets us define our own thoughts and actions.... thats pretty profound.

exactly... instead of us adapting to our environment, we make the environment adapt to us. we can take the seeds out of fruit, plant shit wherever we want, and breed animals to kill and eat

the only weakness of the human race: the buffalo bills ;)

too bad every achievement completed by an individual in the olympics is automatically attributed to that persons country. and the citizens sit on their couches at home and say "we got another medal!"

if you have 20 minutes... this is very interesting and relevant because it shows how awesome the human race is. it starts off kinda slow but then it will shit on your brain.

art = buildings, clothing, computers, tvs, streets, housing, urban planning, cars, buses, condoms, food, nations, history, furniture, cellphones, accessories, shoes, skis, outewear, ns, hairstyles, fashion, money, stories and books, legends, dance, speech...etc...do i need to go on?
anyways, yes man is quite a unique creature, but, animals are just as talented as far as building, agility, sport and dominance are concerned. ant hills are intense.

for once a thread hasn't been hijacked!

what are some of everyones favorite acheivements of the human race?

-i'm a big fan of plumbing... i think we have the romans to thank for that

-pizza is the pinnicle of food technology (maybe even a panzerotti/pizza pocket).... but our obsession with food, and different ways of preparing food is awesome.

-anything that can go incredibly fast is impressive to me (cars, planes, boats, people on skis, runners, swimmers, etc...)

-electricity..... i'm guessing that 99% of people out there (myself included) don't really understand HOW we get electricity, and how it works, but use it every day in every way.

i agree the human race is kicking some ass right now. Nothin but woods and wildlife and looked what we've turned it into. Plasma TVs, internet on a cell phone, skiing down mountains. haha id say where doing pretty good

thanks for posting that video, my mind was blown.

we already control the evolution of other species. domesticated animals farmed for food (cows, chickens, etc...) look NOTHING like their wild counterparts. We breed them to be fat and juicy.

I am excited for the thanksgiving of the future, where I can carve up a 6 winged, 40lbs turkey with my eye laser.

please enough with the naive, immature subtextual remarks about mankind... The only state detonating nuclear weapons right now is a Communist state....

i lol'd at athletics. Humans suck balls at that. No chance we'd be able to win any event in the Olympics against the animal kingdom. (especially if you make all the things to scale for the smaller animals.

BUT! the united states takes the honour of being the only country to deploy and detonate a nuclear WMD during time of war (over 2 cities...crazy bastards).... i still have a hard time wrapping my head around this. hundreds of thousands of people died in minutes. God was smiling that day...

whether you are high or not i agree with you 100% i think we are amazing, sure there are aspects of our race that are totally fucked but i'd like to think that we do more good than bad

i enjoyed the posted video, no matter how "ehhhh yeah but" i was about the whole thing at times. some pretty fascinating things we are/may be capable of, no doubt about it.

The only naivete in this thread is you pretending I'm making a remark. These were just the best of the pictures I have saved that display mans achievements. Oh course, if you believe splitting the atom is childs play...
