The Hackel vs Mango debate

After watching both edits at least 10 times each, I thought that Hackel had the slightest edge over Mango. Some of Mango's tricks were better, but the overall flow and creativity of Hackel's was more entertaining to watch.

Mango got shit on for hitting a lot of small, low consequence spots last year, and then turned around and hit some of the biggest shit I've ever seen in a realski video this year. that level of personal improvement and growth means he gets my vote any day

imo mango won, but I think hackel will probably take 1st to prevent a back to back win

edit: yeah yeah I made a mistake sorry mango only won fan fav

mango didnt win last year, he just got fan favorite

It's honestly so hard to pick, I watched each edit again and listed all the tricks and what ones I thought were extra fucked - literally came out equal for both for me. They both have a solid amount of rail shots, some jump tricks, drops, and other misc fuckery. Glad I'm not a judge because I don't think I could make a decision.

Hackel is probably taking first over mango. although i liked mangos better, mango used the same spot two years in a row thats gonna be a serious deduction guaranteed

I watched them again today. I still have hackle with a slight edge. Awesome skiing and I like the edit the best. Mangos edit was sick too though. The underslide switchups and a bunch of stuff.

Idk it's a tough one. I think everyone brought it hard this year.

The filming and editing was so well done in Hackels edit and really made everything flow as well as the skiing. There were a bunch of lines with heavy hits too. But I personally take into account the filming with comparing each of the edits which is why I would place Hackel over Mango.

Way too hard to decide but I think Mango gets it just because his nollie backflip was the craziest thing I had seen until this years sw nollie misty(??)

I really don’t see anybody having an edge over Jakes edit. He did way gnarlier shit and things I’ve never seen before.

hackle did like 3 or 4 hand drags over rails right? His edit didn’t do much for me at all. But like I said in the other thread, hackle’s seggy in the new bunch edit would win over anything released this year IMO

I get giving the w to mango but saying hackles edit didn't do much for you makes me wut hard. I'm pretty open but I feel it'd be tough to like skiing and not like that edit

I watched the new bunch movie the day before these were released and after seeing his segment in that I just didn’t like what I saw after seeing what that dude is capable of.

I just watched it again and like it even less, and hackle is one of my favorite skiers in it. Even though there was some NBD’s and gnarly shit in there, there wasn’t a whole lot of variety.

He did a hand drag over a guardrail like 5 times I think.

plus mango did way bigger shit. Idk the overall impression of his edit blew me away a lot more than the other guys. No hate to hackle, he got #2 in my opinion but If mango doesn’t come in 1st this year I’m gonna lose my mind

Mangos seemed like it was a bit heavier.

Hackles was a work of art, I really enjoyed the filming and the skiing. Although, some of the tricks seemed a bit less sendy.

EMILE though, he went in. Bummed he's not getting more love

lil expansion on this. there were 3 clips that included Hand plants. The first was the double handdrag. Second was a left and right side hand plant line and the third was his ender the handplant 1 pretzel 3 which is absolutely fucked. he definitely put his hands down but I wouldn’t say it was a bad thing. They were all with purpose.

Peyben has a couple raw clips on his Instastory right now of Hackel's switch carve under the railing.

Holy fuck that thing is so much lower/gnarlier than I initially realized.....

I dont have anything to add upon regarding the hand plants, its all subjective at the end of the day and the dude deserves the W just as much as any other rider.

To add on to alex's ability, some of the axis' he spun in that edit makes me wonder what kind of crazy dub variants hes capable of. The wall ride disaster he did was one of the most fucked up things i've ever seen. Would love to see that dude create some wonky tricks on a jump line.

He was a comp skier for a few years and had a pretty crazy bag of tricks. I remember seeing footage of him doing a LOT of dub variations with different axes.

Mango definitely had some gnarly shots in his edit this year but it didn't feel as groundbreaking as his first year- and don't get me wrong, the road gap and switch pretzel flip were fucked but overall his edit didn't have the same impact on me as last years.

Hackels Was wild though- that flip into the wallride to 180 out was fucked, the switch 180 to wallride to downrail was fucked, hell even that shit where he laid down and slid under that short ass rail off the bridge was fucked. Hackels felt more like a 1st place edit in my book but they both went off for different reasons.

Overall I'd chose Hackel over Mango but I still think both edits slapped and could be chosen winner for different reasons but based off personal preference I'd chose Hackel.
