The government encourages debt

actually jeep offers the liberty and grand cherokee with a diesel

engine, but i think i know what you mean...no compact economy cars with

diesels

yeah, fuck a prius, a diesel jetta or golf will rob it as far as mileage and efficiency go.

hell yeah man i'm a big fan of diesels. not only do diesel engines last longer than gas engines but there's no $3000 battery to replace like with these hybrids. diesel > hybrid imo. It just sucks right now tho since diesel is about $.70 - 1.00 more per gallon than gas around me but hopefully that will be turning around soon

yeah, its outrageous that since this gas crisis started, diesel went from being way cheaper than gas to being way more expensive, with no explanation as to why

thing is, nobody wants a diesel.. at least in america. people have their dicks in the prius' exhaust. also, even if you calculate out the increase for diesel vehicles across the globe, it doesnt equal the increase in price of diesel relative to gasoline. in fact, it falls far short.

that wouldn't explain why diesel has been cheaper than gas for so many years. the entire nation relies on the trucking industry...everything we own/eat/use has been transported on a diesel truck at some point. so they're probably just jacking up diesel prices because they know people will pay no matter what because commerce can't stop.

thanks for the link. so apparantly the increased cost of

diesel is due to the oil companies passing on the cost of updating their refineries to produce low sulfer

diesel.

which is bullshit on the governments part, because the sulfur content in diesel in the first place wasn't that bad

ford offers a mid size compact that runs diesel and gets 60 mpg.. but is only offered in Europe beacuse there is no market in the US for diesel cars because no one thinks of them as clean cars when in fact they are actually cleaner than most gasoline cars...
