When is it okay or not okay to friendzone someone?

Long story short, one of my best guy friends has been asking me out for about a year. I always say no because he already has a girlfriend. But he constantly sends me friendzone memes and tells people I friendzoned him. Is this really friend zoning though if he has a girlfriend?
 
Friendzone someone whenever you want IMO. If youre not feeling it it's not fair to the guy anyway to lead him on.

in this guy's case he's clearly being dumb because although I guess you could technically call it friendzoned, he has a girlfriend so he shouldn't be caring regardless
 
If he keeps asking, and you've already responded no several times, then he's done it to himself. There's nothing wrong with just being friends, and some dudes need to realize that. Plus he's in a relationship, like dude no.

Guys like this are so annoying. There is nothing wrong with friendzoning someone whether it's because your friendship means too much to risk ruining it or purely because you don't want to date him but like him as a friend.

I would call it friendzoning him, because it's not just because he has a gf you're friendzoning him right? It's because you wouldn't want to date him regardless?

In saying that he shouldnt' be making a big deal about it considering he's in a relationship it's just disrespectful to his gf.
 
... You friendzone someone when you're not interested. If he has a gf and that's hindering, you tell him to sort it out, unless you wanna deal with unnessary bull.

why on earth is he saying you're friendzoning him if he's already in a relationship? unless he/they are poly of some sort he's already friendzoned himself pretty well in regards to dating you, right?
