The end of HG Skis

I just saw that on ig. I Just heard of them the other day thats a bummer.

I worked for a couple small businesses in the past and stayed with one until it went down to its very last day. It felt wierd helping them pack up and shut down but it was time to move on. They werent able to stay afloat- not enough sales to keep it running.

Sucks that they're done but they had a good run, and their last film was probably my favorite from last season. Their skis were fuckin expensive though, especially for a park ski.

Damn this fucking sucks, one of the realest companies out there. Eat the Guts was one of the best videos I've seen in a long, long time.

This bums me out. After riding in their stomping grounds the past two seasons I gained even more of an appreciation for HG. Their skis were always just too far out of my price range...

thank you HG for the fresh, free content & for holding it down on the east with some of the illest team riders

Good on Dan for posting up their videos, this is feeling like a big hit to the east coast scene for sure, I hope all the HG boys are succesful in what they put their energy into next

But they were so “core”

you are scum just saying stop because with no argument, HG was and is still the most G and undeniably "core" group of guys in the game

No argument, bud. But I guess we’re finding out you can’t be “G” and “core” and stay in business...

Maybe if their skis weren’t 800 dollars they’d actually do business
true their skis were hella expensive, but they did have that rail damage warranty though. As far as I'm aware of, no other ski companies besides HG (and revision but they dont count lol) were willing to stand by the durability of their park skis to the point where they would offer a warranty for rail damage. For all other ski companies, the warranty becomes void if you decide to hit rails. That always made sense to me from a business perspective, but at the same time it seemed silly because why would a company design park skis with the intent for its customers to use them to hit rails, and then say "but dont hit rails on our skis cuz the skis aren't built to sustain repeated impacts on metal." Although HG did make rather pricey skis, the fact that they believed in the durability of their skis enough to warranty rail damage made the price worth it, and makes HG one of the realest in the game. Very sad to see them go.

ON3P team just got a little bigger.

I know the airlines lost his stuff but I was wondering why Hackel had been on ON3Ps for so long. Couldnt imagine that shit being cool if HG was still around. Huge bummer.

And because I have to make a prediction: Keegan to Faction

He’s been on a spare pair from Magnus for 4 days. I wouldn’t call that a long time. Definitely unrelated to this announcement either way.

Hackel on ON3P would be a madness. Absolutely bummed to fuck about HG gonna echo that Eat The Guts was one of the most epic films I've ever seen.

Also, Keegan has Faction written all over him... but it only dawned on me after I read your comment

Haha if I was paying him to ride my skis, I'd consider 4 days with that much content an extremely long time. He's been absolutely killllling it on them and if I owned HG I'd be pretty bummed especially being the ON3P and HG are more direct competitors than a big brand like Line or Atomic

Yeah I see what you are saying. Would you expect Hackel to just not ski until his stuff shows up tho?

My point is just that him being on On3p skis rn has nothing to do with HGs announcement and everything to do with his bags getting lost.

They are definitely not related. Hackel's bags were lost, Magnus did what any bro with spare sticks would do.

However, I reckon Hackel would fit right in w/ ON3P if he no longer has a sponsor... just as an above member said Keegan would be a top choice for Faction. Would love to see that team edit!

Wherever they go I hope they get a nice check so they can keep skiing as much as they want to.

Couldn't agree more, two guys I love to watch and are at the top of the game right now. Hope they get everything they deserve following this.

If I was HG team manager? You're damn right I would expect him not to ski, or at least not put content out highlighting one of your biggest competitors.

I'm not at all saying he, or Magnus, or anybody is in the wrong here. I just thought it was a little bit weird. Remember how much drama there was when Jonah rode a pair of Atomics when his RMUs broke/got lost? I just wonder if HG wasnt under if he would have posted all that stuff.

Regardless, I think ON3P is a perfect fit and hope he gets a fat stack of cash from whomever so he can keep the dream alive.

As someone who travels just about every other week, It amuses me that people think bags get lost for 4 days. What a bunch of rubes.

Reading between the lines - as we were surprised and asked what was up (lost gear as mentioned) - had HG been continuing, I am sure a different solution would have been found (like overnighting new skis).

I am sure the decision to shut down wasn't made lightly or quickly, so I'd bet it was already made when the skis were lost. At that point, no value is spending more resources

As for the overall picture, skiing is worse off today than it was yesterday, and the number of people & brands out there committed to pushing skiing & ski media in new and different directions takes a big hit. Obviously, the small brands compete against each other to an extent, but we also know there is power in numbers and it's a sad day to see one of us calling it quits. Well wishes to their whole crew.

It was sarcasm. I think the problem, and others pointed it out, was the price. You guys at Moment are more reasonable

Yeah I forgot my /s as well. The price definitely seems to be something that contributed to it. Sad to see them go, seemed like they were just getting started with expanding the line and adding in more options than just a single length park ski.

Wasn't a huge fan of some of there graphics, but the clean simplicity of this one always stood out to me:

Yeah, it has been just that. The airlines have lost my bags for over 6 days and counting! Fortunately Magnus is letting use a pair of his skis until things get sorted out.

Back on topic, I am very saddened by the news of HG closing down. At the same time, I am so thrilled when I hear how much people have enjoyed our movies and how they were able to identify with HG. I will always be so proud to have been a part of HG and the group of people involved

They should have done one last round of pre-orders and then closed down without shipping anything.

Their skis were always sold out so I don’t understand how this happened. Must have not had enough inventory to keep up with demand and costs....

So when y’all signing hackel lmao

Anybody who is talking shit or taking this lightly clearly does not understand the impact this has on the East Coast park scene.

You could spot many pairs of HG’s at hubs like Sugarbush and Mt. Snow - they were a true Vermont brand and the EC is left with no other company to truly identify with.

And this is coming from somebody who never owned or skied a pair - still a damn shame. Plain and simple.

On that note, I would be curious to hear what ultimately led to HG shutting down. As someone said up top, their skis were usually sold out by January and they were constantly putting out new content. I figured they would expand their line and available sizes for next season - totally didn’t see this coming but hey it’s a tough industry I guess.

I wonder if J would have bought them instead of 4frnt had this news been available to him at the time.
