The end of HG Skis

I know the airlines lost his stuff but I was wondering why Hackel had been on ON3Ps for so long. Couldnt imagine that shit being cool if HG was still around. Huge bummer.

And because I have to make a prediction: Keegan to Faction[/QUO

keegan to faction would be so dope

it would just add another powerhouse to their team

would be sick

I wonder if J would have bought them instead of 4frnt had this news been available to him at the time.

Doubt it. 4frnt has a large big mountain following already. HG skis demographic is pretty much the same as J.

Maybe if their skis weren’t 800 dollars they’d actually do business

Had people actually bought their skis this wouldn’t have happened in the first place. Ski prices were up marked in an attempt to help keep the company going. They sold skis originally for around $600. Sure that is a bit steep still but if you emailed them, they were more than happy to supply a discount.

They also offered financing plans and sold their skis for only $300 if you simply gave a review on the company.

Side note: none of their team was paid. all profits went right back into keeping the company afloat.

Anybody who is talking shit or taking this lightly clearly does not understand the impact this has on the East Coast park scene.

You could spot many pairs of HG’s at hubs like Sugarbush and Mt. Snow - they were a true Vermont brand and the EC is left with no other company to truly identify with.

And this is coming from somebody who never owned or skied a pair - still a damn shame. Plain and simple.

Agree with this completely. It was very cool to see a brand define a somewhat bastardized region in this sport. A sizable demographic in the east coast park scene owned HG’s based on what I saw @ Boulder, Mt Snow etc... It gave the whole scene a sense of pride even from my outside perspective (being from the Midwest)

Watching eat the guts now that I'm drunk and its fucking awesome. However, it is a very glaring reminder of why I moved out west. The east is just gray pavement with little hills and no wide open spaces like out here in Utah. As to why they went under, keep in mind so much of the ski industry runs on people who ski once a year. While marketing as a core brand to east coast park rats might bring you a lot of street cred, I gather there isn't as much in the way of sales in that market.

Ok but does anyone know which skis are the closest to HG's? Fuckin love my stingers and whatever skis I get next, I want em to be just like em. I saw these Libtech skis called the "backwards" in a store the other day and they looked and felt just like HG's. Very similar construction and everything. Can anyone speak on this?
