The Downward Spiral of America

but, (as far as i know) you can KEEP your private insurance yes? so if you can afford it, go for it, this just provides for people who cant.

i would have gone for my private doctor if i had known i was going to have to wait 6 hours in emergency to find out whether or not i had a blood clot. it's really hard to get an appointment with my private doctor though, especially on short notice, and i'm sure it's the same for everyone else.

Regardless of the "people you know" the fact is that the costs of out-of-pocket medical care for the uninsured has been rising, while the quality of their care is decreasing. Unless you've got a fat wallet, or a job with decent medical coverage you're SOL. Our country is the only place you'll find people looking for jobs based on the provision of medical insurance.

If you're trying to say that what we've got works, and works well, you're only talking about it in terms of people with money.

it sucks for everyone. the doctors are overworked, and the patients would rather perform their own surgery than wait in either public or private to get it.

what we have works better than what they what they are trying to make us use lol, so lets go back to the drawing board and not use something that we know is going to fail...

Wow. I am not the biggest fan of many of Obama's policies myself but what you said was some of the most incoherent shit i have heard in a while. There was absolutely no reasoning behind any of your accusations. You can't make a blatant sweep like that with nothing to back it up with. And with that, I leave with a quote from the great principal from Billy Madison, with one minor adjustment:

"Mr. BandieBoy, what you've just said is one of the most insanely idiotic

things I have ever heard. At no point in your rambling, incoherent

response were you even close to anything that could be considered a

rational thought. Everyone in this room is now dumber for having

listened to it. I award you no points, and may God have mercy on your

soul."

ok well he is spending more than anyone ever has EVEEERRRRRRR

lets just ask the federal reserve to print more god that always works!!!!

we need to go back to the old system where the country has to have as much gold as cash hahahaha!

The only part that works in our system is the innovation at the top level and care for the most wealthy, the rest of our population is suffering from poor quality and high out-of-pocket costs.

According to the WHO we rank 37th for quality of health care just above Slovenia, 7 places behind Canada.

....... shut up.

im on drugs right now for a screwed up rotator cuff and this should be an entertaining day while high on pain killers but this thread angers me.

ya that sucks but like i said fuck the system they are going to try and use and think up a better one that wont fail. im not opposed to a change but what we are heading towards is a disaster.

thats another huge problem i have with congress right now. the GOP loves to bitch and moan about obamas policies, YET THEY DONT HAVE COUNTER POLICIES A LOT OF THE TIME. if your going to say someones plan is a BAD idea. have another one instead.

and that wasnt directed at you really. i certainly dont expect you to single handedly reinvent the american healthcare system haha

A) The recession started oh... 10 months ago?B) The war in Iraq and the war in Afghanistan are two COMPLETELY different things.

You really don't have much of an argument for why this will fail, if you're saying it'll be just like the Canadian system -- Canada ranks higher on the WHO

if you're saying it'll be like medicare/caide and those systems have been working towards providing better quality for less cost moreso than private insurance, over the past 10 years.

Keeping things the way things are would be the real failure, what is being proposed is not a disaster, at least not for the majority of people, and even so the outcome of providing insurance for every american will relieve the growing pressures of chronic condition as we start to cut the problems off at the root.

One of the major problems with opponents to the new plan is that in focusing on short-term costs, it seems like we are spending more. We need to consider long-term results from this change.

An example of this mindset comes from a study i read about diabetes; Within the study researchers were comparing preventative measures to reduce individuals' chances of developing adult-onset diabetes. The lifestyle intervention showed drastic reductions (48% in the top 20%), however lifestyle changes are expensive to facilitate. It turned out being about $100 more expensive per person than simply using a well-known drug. However the point was that over time the cost of lifestyle changes continually decreased while the pharmaceutical solutions did not.

lifestyle changes like... dont eat a shit ton of sugar and shitty food eat healthy? that doesnt cost that much haha

the thing is we cant be spending more and more and more now we need to try and cut spending as much as possible. the new plan will not do that and if it gets signed in its going to be something that can never be changed.

???

has anyone noticed these 2 things about obama lol

he still thinks he is campaigning the way he speaks and when he speaks it seems like he is looking down on everyone like they arent as intelligent as him?

just thought the picture (mostly the progress part)was ironic to the thread thought maby someone would find it amusing also.... guess im wrong....

Oh god the government is going to force you to smoke out of a penis shaped bowl. Making you gay and high at the same time. I think there are much larger fuck ups of the government right now like, the deficit, bailouts, military presence over seas.

HAHAHAHAHAHAHH WOW WOW WOW YOU had like one good point and the rest was SICKENING YOU BASTARD!!!! YOUR A DISGRASE TOO THIS COUNTRY WE SHOULD BURN YOU AT THE STAKE AND THE COUNTRY SHOULD CHEER!!!!!!! YOU WORTHLESS LITTLE BASTARD!!!!!! Your nothing more than shark bait!!!!!! GO DIE!!!

its something my parents noticed too... all his speeches are like he is getting ready to campaign again in 2012 and feels like he is talking down at the people... its annoying.

A) cool, so the recession started 10 months ago. at the risk of sounding like a cold heartless bastard ( which i am) the market needed to correct, and thats what its doing. could home prices go up infinitely? can people spend money with no worry about paying it back? this however IMO does not give him right to go spend our country into the gutter.

war is war. and it is FACT that Obama really isnt the "anti war" candidate. he is merely reallocating resources. he is decreasing war in one area, and increasing war in another area. im sorry its "over seas contingency plan" right?

i dont even know where to begin... whether i should correct your grammar and spelling issues.... or you being a moron.

one word. Rationing. when you have something that everyone wants, and there is not enough for everyone to consume as much as they want. there is a from of weeding out who wants it, how bad they want it.

or we could just let someone in Washington decide who gets their prescription filled and who dies. that works too, i mean we dont trust the government with wire tapping, or telling us the truth on WMD's or on a whole host of issues, but yeah, ide trust them to divvy up the healthcare.

"at the moment health authorities make the decisions on drug rationing on an individual basis.

" More than 5% of the 3,000

surveyed also said they knew of patients who had died as a result of

being denied treatment on the NHS.
http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/health/251988.stm

wow, this is just plain sad.

"Dehydrated patients were forced to drink out of flower vases, while others were left in soiled linen on filthy wards.

"

"The commission's report - revealed in yesterday's Daily Mail - said at

least 400 deaths could not be explained, although it is feared up to

1,200 patients may have died needlessly."

our healthcare system is far from perfect. but lets not make it free, there is no such thing as a free lunch.

im glad you are always here to back me up cause im to lazy to go out and find the facts... must be all the weed hmm legalize it :)

of course hes still campaigning, he wants to get re-elected, same as any other politician ever has.

i havent really noticed the looking down though

Yeah america was in really good shape until obama was in office. His agenda just consists of socialism, reefer madness, and white house dogs!

PYSCH

it scares me. i HATE the idea of government doling out the healthcare.

this is just plain FUCKED up.

"The head of the World Health Organization calculated that Britain has

as many as 25,000 unnecessary cancer deaths a year because of

under-provision of care. Twelve percent of specialists surveyed

admitted refusing kidney dialysis to patients suffering from kidney

failure because of limits on cash. Waiting lists for medical treatment

have become so long that there are now "waiting lists" for the waiting

list.

Malmo, with its 280,000 residents, is Sweden's third-largest city. To

see a physician, a patient must go to one of two local clinics before

they can see a specialist. The clinics have security guards to keep

patients from getting unruly as they wait hours to see a doctor. The

guards also prevent new patients from entering the clinic when the

waiting room is considered full."

sorry, there was more.

A man with a broken ankle is facing a lifetime of pain because a

Health Service hospital has refused to treat him unless he gives up

smoking.

John Nuttall, 57, needs surgery to set the ankle which he broke

in three places two years ago because it did not mend naturally

with a plaster cast.

Doctors at the Royal Cornwall Hospital in Truro have refused to

operate because they say his heavy smoking would reduce the chance

of healing, and there is a risk of complications which could lead

to amputation.

kids on ns that are all over obamas dick for reasons they dont even know, dont wanna believe this shit. its sad its the truth and people fail to see it.

could you give us a rundown?

i know we dont have it perfect. but im happy.

another angle that should be considered is innovation in healthcare... where does it come from? new drugs?

Look who you're supporting; the guy who won't give up smoking so he can walk around without pain. It's not like the doctors are holding the surgery from him simply because they want to make him live a 'healthier' lifestyle, his smoking is actually a factor in his health.

if sosmeone from california knows more about the health care plan where you don't have co-pays, rather you pay-front and it provides care for anything that happens speak up. As i recall it's an amazing system, you'd think it'd go broke in a week without having pay-per-visit revenues but it's working pretty well.

I recently watched the movie "The Business of Getting High". I do not smoke, I just dont care for inhaling anything but oxygen, but, I am 100% pro marijuana legilization after watching this movie. There is no legitimate reason why marijuana should be illegal. Watch this movie.

ok, I am a skier (obviously haha) and last winter i took some nasty spills, etc etc. well i have a "tough it out" mindset, and i didnt go to the doctor even with my back being in severe discomfort. well long story short i destroyed about 6 disks in my back. and had all these differnt growth steroids, PT, the whole program.

now when i went into the doctor they didnt look at me and go "well are you going to give up skiing"? they advised me that skiing isnt the best thing for my body (duh) but they did not refuse care for me just because i actively participate in an activity that has the potential to cause un desired effects on my body.

whats next, no MTN dew for you, your family has a history of adult onset diabeties. (my family) its obvoiously not the best thing for you, but that doesnt mean i should be denied getting the medical treatment i need.

im sure the guy knows smoking isnt good for him, and he should be advised that smoking can have adverse effects on his recover. then he should have his ankle put back together. IMO what the hell give the guy a chance.

whats next? you're not worth saving, you're already 90 years old, how useful are you to us?

jesus, why did anyone even reply to his bullshit thread?

everyone knows it's a fucking alias that provokes you all. let the shit die. he spews this shit all the time.

Brutal you must have fail social class mate.

Not socialist , and america already has trillions of dollars in debt, dont blame the black man.

Gay marriage?! does it affect you? no it doesn't

Weed? it used to be legal, It used to be one of americas greatest crops. Then the dumbasses who were afraid of losing the popular vote fucked shit up by running a campaign of terror. Wasting even more of that precious money you're so worried about

But yeah. That country is fucked bud.

He never pretended to be an anti-war candidate, the fact is that the war in Afghanistan has somewhat of a purpose, rather than the war in Iraq. And no.... it's a war.
