more details from the NWF email:

The Crystal Mountain Triple Crown: Washington State’s Junior Freeride Championship.

This championship is made up of 3 one-day big mountain events on January

21st, February 11th, and April 21st. Open to male and female skiers

and boarders ages 11-17. There will be a limited amount of slots

available to participants. Registration will be done online and costs

$85.00. The date and details for registration will be announced soon.

We strongly recommend that participants join the Crystal Freeride

Program to get training and coaching this season or, at the very least,

drop in for a session or two. Judges will use the IFSA

format. Venues will be determined based on weather and snow

conditions, but will likely be three of the following: the Throne, Elk

Chutes, the King, Silver Basin, and Bear Pits.

Brought to you by Crystal Mountain, K2, Contour, Red Bull, OR, Smith, and Dakine.

More information coming soon!

hahahahahahahahahahahahaha. so fucking true. I felt out of place those few years I was in the program. such bullshit though. got a cheap ass pass though.

What is the age deadline. I turn 18 on February 11th, so am I eligible for all events because it is a series, or only the first two?

I'm already too old. Dope. Hope I can at least do Cowboy Ridge if they're still doing it.

Please note and pass along that we do offer scholarship/aid opportunities to riders that want to participate but can't afford the cost. Also, in comparison, the Crystal Freeride program and related events are relatively inexpensive.

This event is being put on by the Freeride Team coaches and the rate is the same as a drop in day of coaching. That said, the fee includes all the on hill consulting about your line, judging criteria, skills, etc. that you can consume during the event.

Hope that helps a little.

For questions on scholarship/aid, email Wayne at wg@northwestfreerideprograms.com

Coaches include:

Wayne Grevey

Lloyd Dahlem

Shane Schorzman

Troy Hoff

JD Thompson

Jodi Thompson

Josh Wirta

Caleb Cole

Justin Heath

and more plus a media team

Crystal Mountain, the only ski school that thinks its a prep school. Scholarships would be required wouldn't they? You guys offer psychology counseling to those poor bellevue kids too?~

I would prefer to stay on topic regarding the event so this will be my last comment on this.

If that is your angle then every soccer, basketball, football, gymnastics, etc etc program out there would be in this same boat. The idea is that there are alot of us out here that would prefer to spend our time and money on skiing vs anything else and for those that don't have the money, we are stoked to make them apart of what we are trying to create as well. The idea behind NWF is to contribute to the ski/board community, period.

Sorry to offend... and btw, if you would like to volunteer your time, as many of us will be, to contribute something positive during the Triple Crown send me a note at aadevore@msn.com

Organized sports and skiing? Fuck me if skiing becomes like that garbage. You can stick your freeride xgames ballet judged bullcrap up your ass~

^ wow!

Dude, get off the internet for a little bit and go skiing. You'll realize that it isn't becoming that, but it is that in some ways. If you don't want to participate that's fine. There's no need to be a dick to NWF because they are trying to help kids that actually want to be better skiers and want to experience the comp side of the sport.

NWF isn't here posting some bullshit thread that nobody could give a fuck less about.

Maybe it's wet enough in your backyard and you can go "skiing" on your piece of PVC and astroturf.

Thanks Karter!

Alright, so here are some additional details for those still interested in a local progressive comp. First is I wanted to clarify this event will bring skiers and boarders up against each other on the same freeride venue competing against each other. Second, regarding age, the limit is actually 11-18 as long as you are in high school and 18.

1. Shoulder dislocated, cant go skiing, so I get to spend some time telling cunts like you to fuck off.

2.You'll realize that it isn't becoming that, but it is that in some ways.

Uhhh what?

3.experience the comp side of the sport.

Skiing isnt a sport go fuck yourself

5. The only thing that makes people give a shit about a crystal thread is when you guys break a new work record for buttplug insertion

6. Classic crystal fuckstick, too good for astroturf, needs a gondola to ferry his candy ass to the top. Besides the fact that youre way off base in your assumptions of me~

stop wasting your breath hating on crystal. Just post in the stevens pass thread. Personally I dont like stevens. The park is really good but I would rather ski crystal on a pow day because the terrain is so much better. Plus I dont really care for park so crystal is a mountain that fits my needs. I understand how some people at crystal are snotty but I try to not let it bug me and just enjoy my time up skiing.

Hola, we are back to continue the fun on this thread. Registration is open for the 3 stops of the Triple Crown Series. There is a limit of 100 riders for each stop and the winner will be based on your best 2 out of 3 showings. Best of luck to you all!

Also, next announcement, coming soon, will be the list of sponsors for each stop with the 1st and 2nd place winners for each stop winning gear from those sponsors. The list includes K2, Contour, Dakine, Smith, and more.

Rumor is that an adult comp may yet happen at Crystal this season. If so, I heard it will be a 1 day king of the hill event, similar to the Jr triple stop series but instead just one day fun day. Cross your fingers.

You sure can. Your best 2 scores tally towards the overall winner. Sorry for the date change. 410 just finally opened a few hours ago...

Yo guys there is a mens an women's comp in april for all you who are asking for it. the freeride team has been waiting to set this up for abut a month an finally got approval. entrance fees an prizes still undecided. as far as the triple crown series, we rescheduled and the first event is this saturday. the 2nd event in march and the third still in april.

I did two of the freerides with a friend we were the only kids not on a team and the free ride team was complete assholes to us and my friend went out and showed them all up and got 2nd I would never wanna be on that team

$85......for rich kids only?

come on scott, thats cheaper than lift tickets at alot of mountains. I think thats an ok deal, especially if your getting some coaching.

a single day private lesson at Beaver Creek CO is $750.

Im not complaining cause i can't compete I'm to old i just feel bad for all the kids that are really good but can't afford to compete

Yeah competing isn't the expensive part, the team fees/camps are the expensive part. I'm thinking of competing, but there's now way I'm going to try to be on the team.

All who enter receive coaching. Our lead onhill coach for Round ONE this past weekend was Drew Tabke, 2011 McConkey Cup winner and current athlete on the European Freeride World Tour.

The point of this event and the Freeride team is all about accelerating the freeride ski/board scene through coaching, promotion opportunities, and creating valuable learning experiences. Regarding the $85 entry fee, I made less money putting on this event than I paid in gas to get there.

To all the haters, thanks for the continued press.

freeride team is great, pay money to be in a special club and seem super hip. ooo i dont ski ifreeride. Ya then you can pay extra for coaching to increase your status in your kindergarten club~
