Maybe that worked, but I really like this city idea! and I like the look of the above skis.

Dont try to spend too much time on the graphics in photoshop, they wont work to put directly on the ski, but they are great for generating ideas so keep it up, just remember they dont need to be perfect.

Also a quick note, intense gradients and lots of colors are hard to print!

I will pass on some of your ideas to the rest of the pro team and a few of our artists here in Boulder!

I think rather than having specific cities (too much red tape, copyright, ect) but parts of a city. Like maybe a ski based on downtown, another with maybe a sub-urban feel, maybe a ghetto design?

that would be really cool to do a big urbanish playground, kind of symbolizing that the mtn is a big playground
 
Yeah. Thats exactly what i was thinking. I like the whole idea though, because you can have different cities for the different models/sizes, that each sorta represent that ski. Like, that fatter skis could have an Alaska cityscape or something with mtns. in the background... like SLC or something. The more park models could just have a regular city, and the smaller skis could have like a playground or something within a city.
 
i lke the retro-skate feel to that design, but again we are trying to get away from "American Liberty" as a theme for the sake of our international customers.

I think we can do the city idea in more of a grafiti art point of view.

I have some really talented artist friends that are stoked on the city idea too. The are going to start doing some drafts but they want some direction!

defanitely a good call...as for ideas already thrown out there, i dont think we should abandon emily's just yet...it would be a really sick ski with a white topsheet and black scribbled math equations and such covering the length of the ski...it could defanitely look sick
 
That seems like it would represent baseball more than skiing, or liberty as a company. my favorite idea so far, is the math equations. Think about it. it'd be cool, and unique, and totally bring a different lifestyle i guess, to skiing. Its not the cliche thing. Like, on size could just be lined paper, with legit equations about taking off, and landing, etc... and it could have doodles in places, like every math students notes do. And you could have one that looks like a chalk board, and then one like a dry erase board or something. I dig it.
 
yaa man if any body has old math notes we could combine them all to make it really genuine let me work on something as a draft really quick
 
I was just thinkin of some physics stuff, and though of Newton's Third Law of Motion. It states "for every Action, there is an Equal and opposite reaction". This pretty much works for skiing. For every action (hauling into a jump/rail/etc.) there is an equal or opposite reaction (stomping it, or eating shit). The equation could look pretty cool all sketched out, with some doodles around it, and its long, like a ski is.

Oh, and another thing..... You could plug the Letters that spell out Liberty into the equation. Like, replace some of those letters, and make it spell Liberty in a staggered way or something. It would still have the nerdy math equation feel, but plug liberty.
 
yeah, i'm IN math in uni ... i definitely have the means of coming up with some correct equations for that sort of thing

and i think the idea of using L-I-B-E-R-T-Y as variables is SUCh a cool idea!!!!

Buddy I defenatly agree with your idea.. Newtons third law of motion would be so original and its skiing realated.. and Magnum I like ur ski graphic too.
 
thats as real as it gets i just cut up all my math notes my teacher will probably kill me but what do i care. tht purple stuff is actually pink highlighter which shud be see through my scanner sucks though.
 
using physics to calculate things like the appropriate velocity you need in order to land in the perfect stop on the landing if the deck is 50 ft long and with a take of like 30 degrees or something isn't hard to figure out...and all my physics profs always encouraged pictures to figure stuff out so there could be lots of fun little pictuers of stick people on skis going off little jumps...

could also do something about force of person overcoming frictional force on a rail...

i could maybe go actually talk to my old physics TA and maybe they could do up some reaaal fancy stuff ;)
 
^ i was thinkin the exact same thing about the stick people. if it looks all pencil drawn, stick people would definately rock out. And, can anyone post the picture of the plain white skis. Line used to have them on there site, and K2 had them too.
 
okay - i just emailed my old physics prof explaining the idea...asked him to pass me off to a grad student if he's too busy, hopefully i'll hear back from him and get some really accurate cool stuff down on paper soon.

i'm going to bring him white paper, black permanent marker, red perm marker for the variables l-i-b-e-r-t-y...anyone have better ideas?

maybe i could send/scan the sheets to someone else who knows how to put them on skis when i get them
 
i like the idea of doodles all over the ski too...i think if it were a white topsheet with thickish black writing...kinda like if you actually wrote it with a sharpy...what about other colors too? you could have studd scribbled out in lime green and pink and shutz as well..to spice it up a bit if you will
 
thats a good idea... i like brown yellow and pink together i thing it would look dope...like the armada ant colors are sick.... colors like that maybe with some cool design
 
I'm in Physics 101 right now, tI think that Idea is sick. I could definatly do so reading and figure something out and all my notes are exactly what you guys were saying, i'm always drawing diferent ramdom shit on the sides. i'll see what I can do.

so!

i got an email back from my physics prof, he's really excited :)

so, i'm going to meet up with him pretty soon, get some stuff down on paper. by going to a real physicist we're definitely going to get down some really cool stuff...

is there anyone who is willing to put stuff together on a ski once i get it? because i have NO idea how to do it!

and colour wise - maybe i'll bring in a whole bunch of magic markers and we can get them copied out in some different colour combos, see what works best

I think it should stay sorta simple with just a white ski, black/gray writing, and then some reds and blues here and there. Like, the first year k2 PE's were all black and white, except i think a few of the police officers and otehr things has blue and red on then. It sorta draw attention to that part of the ski, so it would be cool. I think have a sketch of the liberty Logo on the Tip, with the three starts under it in red, would be neat. I'm pumped for this idea.

i had a brain wave while i was just writing my midterm

say we have these skis...

picture the t-shirt:

dark colour, in white there's a little picture of the stick-person going off of a jump complete with triangles and scibbles, with a ll the appropriate equations coming out to some answer.

at the bottom (or on the back) in slightly bigger letters it says

LIBERTY: We know what we're doing.

thhhaaattt would be awesome.
