The best movie showcasing our sport is...?

Hi guys.

I teach amateurs freeskiing, and I'm also conducting lectures about freeskiing equipment, competitions, its history, and I wrap it up with a freeski film. I've used various movies for that, but was wondering what in YOUR opinion is the best ski movie to show to amateurs as well as all the Jerrys, to present variety of this sport (not only snowpark), hype them up and show what it's all about.

Your recommendations?

i havent seen too many but i have to say for lack of better was by far my #1

for an urban film anyways

any of the meathead films are really good. They have powder, urban, and park all in one movie. They usually joke around a lot and It would really help people see what skiing is all about.

I don't think 1 movie/edit can really cover the whole sport, I would show a variety of stuff from like x games runs on 1 end of the spectrum to something like the bunch or B&E on the other end

If this is only a 1 time thing tho and you can only pick 1 movie rather then a variety of edits meatheads are a good choice

Superheros of stoke MSP is a documentary style movie

All.I.Can is the best one that comes to mind.

McConkey is a perfect movie to sum up the 80's and 90's in skiing

There is no one story in freeskiing. Single people and groups of people influenced different cultures in regions throughout the world. If you wanna capture it all, it would take years to gather first hand accounts. In the amateur world, you can never compare riders because they dont compete. They prefer to work at their own rate.

Trust me dude, If you are starting from scratch; give up and move to something more specific.

this so much. showed it to Mum and she enjoyed it which is a first.

it's the only movie that really goes behind looking at why street skiers do what they do

Few Words

It includes history of freeskiing through the eyes of Candide, rad skiing, and a great soundtrack. I make a lot of ppl watch ski movies withe me (yes, I'm that guy) and this one always resonates with everyone whether they ski, snowboard, don't do either, etc...

Trust our judgment was extremely well put together. Definitely one of my favorite movies ive seen in the last 5 years. And is probably #1 for movies id show my non ski friends

Sammy C and Good Company bc it's just a group of talented freeskier who want to shred but aren't trying freaking quads🖕

Something that encompasses everything, including BC/freeriding, park/jibbing, urban.

For overall banger parts, Seven Sunny Days gets my vote. Claim/In Deep/Attack of la nina could all have arguments for runner up in my book.

Also, outdoor graduation and the other voleurz movies do a great job of capturing the not so serious side of skiing while still having totally banger parts.

To show everything I would do Level 1, MSP, Sammy C Project or if you really wanted to show all aspects of our sport Warren Miller. His new film literally has everything from urban to park to aerials to big mountain to powder.

I think the movie G.N.A.R. is a really good slice of ski culture. It gives viewers a look into what ski towns are all about. And its totally free:http://unofficialnetworks.com/gnar

I would have to add MSP's focused to the list. from urban in the bronx to hucking cliffs while skiing big mountain to launching 80 foot kickers at PC, the amount of well versed, open minded skiing is amazing. This coupled with the amazing skiers, including seth, pep, eric, candide, and the late sarah, shane, and CR

no movie showcases our "sport" the way that the beginner should see it. skiing isnt about (or at the very least, it shouldn't be) hitting the biggest handrail, jumping off the tallest building, or putting together the gnarliest urban part. its about going to the hill with your homies, cruising, having a good time, getting into the mountains, fucking around, and maybe being psyched on a line you skied, or a trick you landed. make it about personal enjoyment, self betterment, and getting loose. you're going to have a hard time capturing that with any movie that claims to be revolutionary, mind-blowing, or even worse, cinematic. that shit isnt going to make sense to someone who doenst even know skiing.

actually, fuck it. show those lil fuckers finito.
