THE BEATLES

Has anybody ever noticed that every new superhyped band sounds like them? The Strokes, The Hives, The Vines, and The White Stripes(to a lesser extent) all mimic their sounds. It's interesting how rock music is going back to its roots, and everybody thinks that it is actually going in a new, unprecedented direction. It made me laugh when somebody said that The Hives were pioneers of rock and roll.

Ya, completly true. The bands you listed are taing the basics of like, the Beatles and other brit-rock and putting their own personal spin. guess that's the way music is all along, but dont call those bands pioneers. It'd be a disgrace to the Beatles.

i still cant see how the vines sound like the rest of those bands, maybe its just me but they sound like every other shitty rock band, the strokes are the best out of all of them.

Yeah, I don't like any of them that much, they're all ripoffs. I prefer innovative sounding bands, of which there are too many to name.

i dunno, i don't really see the corrolation between the new garage acts and the beatles? the hives, strokes, white stripes, are all derived from people like iggy pop and the ramones in my opinion.. i really don't see them connected to the beatles moreso than any other group that makes music?

I can never tell the difference between the Hives, Strokes, and the White Stripes... maybe I just dont know the music well enough, but to me they all sound exactly the same.

Listen to 'Helter Skelter' by the Beatles and try to tell me that all these 'Garage Bands' aren't nearl carbon copies of that song.

i've listened to it many times, but that's just one song.. the next song on the white album is 'long, long, long'.. which sounds absolutely nothing like helter skelter. in my post i continued to say that just about every band has been influenced by the beatles..

It's on ehting to be influenced, but these new bands are carbon copies of musical styles that came out 30 years ago, and people think they are so dammed original.

Exactly. And it pisses me off that most people that listen to music are too ignorant to recognize that relationship. If you disagree, as that one kid does, that's fine, but if you didn't even notice it at all, I hate you.

i agree somewhat with what you're getting at, but u can't say that u hate somebody just because they don't know as much about the history of music as u do. maybe someday, by listening to and exploring more types of music, these 'ignorant' people will learn that most music has been done before.. until then, i'd say u should have a little more tolerance.

Uh dude, reread things. I never said I hate those bands, and I don't think GDawg did either.

i don't wanna get into an argument about what may or may not have been said..... but if u look up about 3 posts u will see the words 'i hate u' at the end of gdawg's post, that's what i was referring to.

That comment had absolutely no reference to the music of the band. It was just referring to people that have no clue that The Beatles and The Who were putting out similar sounds 30-some years earlier. lol. Whatever tho.

I was just kidding with the 'I hate you' thing. I started rambling and decided to end the sentence with something that summed up by general emotions.
