Hey guys, let's make it official. We are doing our own version of the 1 camera, 1 lens, 1 stock project. The parameters of the project are below. Stoked to see how this plays out over the year!

1. For all work created for the project for the duration of the project (one year), you may use only one camera body, one lens, and one film stock. Processing methods, additional gear, etc. are all fair game. Choose wisely.

2. The 1 year period begins on January 1st, 2015, and ends on January 1st, 2016. Do not post scans of photos that were shot at any other time than between these dates.

3. On the last day of each month (or very close to it), each participant will post only 5 photos in this thread from the month of shooting. The photos posted on the last day of each month do not have to have been shot, processed, and scanned only during that month, however they must have been shot, processed and scanned after the photos posted in the previous round of submissions.

For example - If a roll is shot between March 29th and 30th, it is unlikely that that roll will be processed and scanned and posted on the 31st. We don't want to miss out on seeing those photos, if there are a couple selects in there. Those photos can be posted on April 30th, however, they are included in your 5 and are not in addition to the 5.

If you post photos from February on the last day of February, and post photos from March on the last day of March, and you find that you have neglected to scan a roll from February, those photos from that roll should not be posted in March or April.

This is intended to keep the progressive visual history of your work during the project linear throughout the thread, rather than jumping around. It isn't meant to be restrictive, just to create continuity!

4. The only discussion in this thread is about the photos that are posted. All other off-topic discussion will be removed.

I'm excited to see how this goes! If you have and questions or need any clarification, please feel free to PM me!

Because of the lack of activity within this thread between posting times (seems like it might slow down a bit in the middle of the month) this should be stickied

I got into photography about a year ago, specifically after I helped my brother-in-law with a shoot of his and realized how much I really liked it. At first I only started shooting film simply because I couldn't afford a DSLR, but after shooting it, Ive grown to like film more and more. Not having the luxury of instant gratification, I feel, makes me put more effort into each shot because I want all the work it requires to be worth it. Also I tend to have multiple rolls being shot at one time, which causes me to forget about some shots. The subsequent surprise of seeing those forgotten shots when developing the roll is an added bonus of film. I chose to do this 1 year, 1 lens, 1 film stock because it sounded quite fun, also because Ive found that 70mm is an awkward focal length for me to work with. Cheers!

Skiing and NS actually were what got me into photography- my really good friend has had nice camera equipment for a while, so last year he got me to start filming him with it. I didn't mind at all because he's a better skier than I am and I instantly loved taking videos. I would be picturing the shot in my head but I still wasn't sure what f stop and iso even meant. Eventually I learned how to use the t4i and I even bought it off of my friend. I got interested in film because I saw a bunch of really good film pictures posted in the Your Best Picture thread, so I bought an AE-1 Program. From there its been me trying to learn as much as possible about photography and have a bunch of fun. I tend to shoot film more because I make myself put more thought into the shot, I love the look, and it feels like christmas when I get my scans back. I want to participate in this thread to get myself out shooting more and to hopefully improve my photography. I always find myself complaining about Ohio, so I'm thinking that it will be fun to make my project about finding some interesting things in my city and state.

didn't realize there was an official thread so here's a copy/paste, sorry about that.

Camera: Voigtlander Bessa-R

Lens: CV 35mm F/2.5

Film: Tri-X

I've been shooting film for a little over two years now and shot digital for maybe a year before that. Prior to that, I had little interest in cameras, but with Level 1 I really started enjoying shooting second angles and doing follow cams and that evolved over time. I prefer film over digital because half the time I usually forget what I took pictures of by the time I develop (except for shooting 6x6) and the allure of it is intriguing. I'm also starting to gain motive in the fact you actually get to hold on to tangible negatives due to an ever so slight feeling that electricity may stop someday and I want to keep all my pictures. I chose a bessa because I can't afford a leica and it seemed like the next best bet. 28 was always my favorite focal length, but I decided I wanted to try something just a touch tighter and this 35 is a sweet lens with a super short throw. Tri-x because it's Tri-X.

Nikon F5

Nikon 50/1.4

Kodak Tri-X

I've always shot film.

50mm because Henri Cartier-Bresson

Nikon because #2poor4Leica

Tri-X because: #ART shot on Tri-X = Pulitzers

Contax T

Sonnar 38mm f2.8

Portra 400

Film because digital cameras have too much distracting bullshit and produce sterile, lifeless images.

Contax T because it's a well built rangefinder with solid optics that fits nicely in my back pocket.

38mm because it's permanently attached to my camera.

Portra 400 because I have shot mostly tri x for the past year or so and want to start shooting color. And it has a nice amount of grain and insane latitude.

I shoot mostly Street. Not exactly sure what Ill be focused on shooting for this project, but this thing is gonna be with me wherever I go.

naaaaaaah, i think i'll stick with 800 and just shoot it +1.

am i the only one still playing at this game?

I will be back in Utah on Wednesday, and able to throw in my Jan photos then.

I didn't decide what I was going to shoot on till the end of the month - Here's my setup:

Camera Body: Olympus OM-1

Lens: Olympus Zuiko 50mm f1.8

Film: Fujifilm Superia X-Tra 400

Nikon FE - Because It's perfect and my F80 is being annoying.

85mm f1.8 - Because I'm sick of just using a 50.

Tri-X - Because Duh.

I've been shooting photography for years, learned how to shoot film on my mom's XA2 when I was in middle school. I fell out of still photography for years as I invested way more time in video. When HDSLR's started to become more affordable, I picked up still photography again and became far more interested in it than I ever had been in the past. Now I don't shut up about it, and I somehow actually make a decent amount of side-money off of it. Excited to start this up because It will force me to shoot more film and that's always good.

Edit: My F80 has been being really really annoying and not firing when press the shutter at times... It's fine on manual focus but then what's the point of an AF camera...

I have decided to switch my setup before posting any photos to my FE that I just realized actually fucking works perfectly, and I'm going to shoot with an 85mm because I'm just kinda sick of 50mm.

Only shot two rolls all month. Super swamped with school and other film/video projects right now. Here's my edit though:

So this sounds cool. I have never done any photography so bear with me and this uphill struggle. I decided that to start my journey in photography I really wanted to mess around with film and not just film, but black and white. I was only able to get 4 images that I was happy with in this last month. Again bear with me some of them are a little rough, but I like the abstractness of some of the underexposed images. I'm excited to see my progression through the months and how this turns out a year from now.

My January, one event really, Tri-X @ 3200, gloriously missed focus then again I was mostly walking backward whilst attempting to manual focus f/1.4. Excuses, excuses, here are my snapshits:

END OF MONTH BUMP

This shouldn't die after one month.

Pushing Tri-X to 6400 as we speak, the #Artz will be perplexing.

Sorry, should have updated! I didn't get a chance to shoot ANYTHING in January... for a number of reasons I'm not going to discuss here. But, I did shoot feb! I'll be posting soon!

i shot 6 rolls of tri-x over the past two months so i'll be dumping them in the next couple weeks when i can get some time to develop them.
