I don't know if many on this site have love for football, but I have!

This is a sad day, and I just wanted to make a thread for him, Fergie is a true legend!

What he has done for Manchester is amazing!

98/99 is still by best memory, I cried off happiness the whole night!

Share your love and memories!

as a bayern fan i was less than ecstatic back then and its still one of the most undeserved final wins i have ever seen. but to be honest, bayern wouldnt have won two years later without that defeat, i am 100% certain, so its all good.

its pretty rare to see that stability from a coach and i am not sure if hes such an exceptional coach or if his bosses were more confident in his abilities even during downturns than other executives.

obviously one of the best coaches ever tho.

A sad day indeed, it's going to be very strange without him next season.

What he has done, not just for United, but for English soccer and the game in general is incredible.

He will be missed.

ill take your word for it

hopefully they take care of business. they absolutely have to. unless they wanna become the buffalo bills of soccer, they better win this goddamn final. you cannot lose 3 finals in a row, thats just too much.

Sad to see him go. He'll still be upstairs though.

Wondering who'll take over. Could they have Mourinho all set up to come when he leaves?

It will be interesting to say the least.

I honestly would not like Mourinho to take over. Of course he would make sucserss in the short term, as he always do, but i want a stabile manager to take over what Fergie buildt, and can stay the long run, be loyal, and who thinks and acts a little like SAF. Like Dvaid Moyes, or mabye even Ole Gunnar Solskjær!!

Although Dortmond dismantled Real in rather easy fashion, I do not see them having their way with Bayern. I like Bayern and can tell you they are going to whip Dortmond at Wembley. Whip them.

I'm on the line about Mourinho, I feel he could pick up from Fergie, but then most of me thinks he wouldn't be able to fill his shoes.

David Moyes could do very well. But as I said, this will be interesting to see how this plays out.

10) is not true. just because more stuff is legal in gridiron football, doesnt mean there are less dirty players. also, there is no such concept as a bruiser in soccer and those few guys with a bad rep more often than not just get sent off. there are also league fines after video evidence.

9) idk why this is an argument for american football. more diversity, different styles of play and more teams for locals to identify with instead of a franchise whos here next year and somewhere else next year. its easier to follow the sport of pro american football, yes, but overall its a tie.

8) kind of agree, especially from a children sport perspective. fat kids dont get the feeling that they are worthless. cant have them for a football game but in american football a fat kid might be the first one chosen in a pickup game (but there are no real pickup games)

7) so basketball and hockey are horseshit as well? that just mean that usually its harder for a team to keep up the good level of play for 30+ games. both ways have advantages. like with more games, usually the best team wins, but there are less cinderella stories. pick your poison.

6) probably not true. never heard of that and most definitely just a america-fuck yeah joke. also, arent nazis complete fuckheads? why would it be positive if they fear something?

5) football is equally strategic, but not as easy to see. and players have to adapt to 10 times more variations because everything is in free flow and there will never be the exact same situation. so its more instincts, but with a good amount of strategy underlying it. american football is more structured and you will see the same thing a couple of times a game as a player. both approaches to a sport have their pros and cons.

4) uganda be kidding me. idk why americans like commercials so much, but there are like 20 of them during a game. i am sitting here at 4 am in europe and wanna go to sleep and there is a commercial after the PAT and another one after the kick return. then maybe, two plays after that, a quarter is over, boom, next commercial, after that, a player gets injured, BOOOOOOOOM. cannot be serious.

3) the games are completely different. fact is, football would be almost unplayable with full contact. you need certain rules for this whole touching the ball with your feet thing to work. obviously, hits are fun and its really a nice aspect of american football. but am football players overdo it a little bit. obviously there are hits that are beyond good and bad and hurt a shitload, but a regular game, comon guys, its not so tough as you act.

2) go tell that to the kid who was stabbed after a raiders game. obviously football fans are more ecstatic and in general, there is just a completely different fan culture. NFL fans are relatively calm and one element that is missing completely are songs. in european stadiums, fans will chant up to 90 minutes and it makes a nice atmosphere. and in most european stadiums, hooligans are no big issue. again, both sides have pros and cons.

1) that is true. and hopefully the UEFA will follow the financial fair play act up with some kind of either individual salary cap or club salary caps. seems impossible right now and maybe the good players would then just go to the US, china or middle east, to receive those 15+ M salaries.

with that being said, i played football all my life (as a german/austrian, nbd) and have become a big NFL fan over the last 4 years and play american football since 3 years myself (JV team of one of the best teams in europe, so trainings are kinda DII/DIII). both sports are hilariously entertaining imo and i really cant understand why people always have to say this one is cooler than the other and have to go personally after people who say this was or that way.

i know its completely senseless to write this but i hate how everyone is always so "sport X" is better than "sport Y" when there is no real basis for it on a general level. yes you can dissect certain areas and say that football requires more instincts whereas american football is tougher, but in general, both are fun sports to do and watch and it would be ten times more fun if all the semi-fans that act like tough guys would shut the fuck up.

I've supported MU since I was 7 and he's always been there like he IS the club so i'm genuinely devastated that he is retiring. So many feels :( At least he's staying on as Director though.

Best manager ever, LOVE YOU FERGIE.

Just to let you know, I googled, "football is better than futbol" and posted the link to one of the first results. I didn't even read the thing, you stupid bastard. Hahahaha, my god you are a fucking tool.

It seems like Davis Moyes is taking over, I'm happy about it, but not sure if i can picture a successful Manchester United with him the next 20 years.. It's weird United has been my only club, and Fergie is such a big part of it... I will probably not feel the same about the club next season, i don't know.... I just remeber my unckle talking about when Brian Clough left Nottom Forest

Complete joke of an article.

As an Arsenal fan, I can't stand United, but I have so much respect for Sir Alex. To consistently come out with line-ups that win (without burning out the players), have the right game-strategy, adapt quickly, deal with off-field issues, etc. for however many games he coached is so impressive.

isnt that the point of posting a link? at least checking whether its in agreement with your opinion.

and i wrote that symbolic for every thread that gets ruined by a complete fuckhead like you that has to go offtopic like shit and has to argue in a completely moronic shitshow of a post in order to create a feeling of superiority for fans of sport x or y. have you even played am. football yourself? sure doesnt look like it. youre just one of these complete tools without an opinion that act like the fucking world police of arguments.

ns was such a better place without you joke of a member

Hahaha, you still cannot figure it out... this is too good. Take a step outside, you stupid piece of shit, and think for a few moments about how not everything posted on the internet is COMPLETELY SERIOUS.

David Moyes will be the new manager.

Signed a 6 year contract. He'll take charge on July 1st.

You should take some of your own advice.

Man U with Mourinho would not feel right for me, and I support Arsenal. Despite him leaving the public spotlight, I'm sure he will still remain heavily involved with Man U until the day he dies. He IS Manchester United.
