Tha 187 vs JPvsJulien Pro Model

I'm 5'10'' and I'm planing to get Tha 187 or JP vs Julien. Powder, big moutain and fast lines this what I'm into. What is the best solution? Tha 187 or JPvsJulien. I know that JPvsJulien are ultra light but i know nothing abou Tha 187. What do you recomend?
 
very similar skis, JPs are softer and have the raised tail and are 104 underfoot with little sidecut. the THA 187 is a centimeter shoter in length, 109mm underfoot, has a 28.5m turn radius (more turny), nick greener rock them last year to become the US Freeskiing national champ. so the JPs are more suited for jumping though will also work good in open fast lines, while the tha 187 would be better for technical lines and would also work well everywhere else. basically JP if you plan on going switch in powder, if not THA 187 or which ever you can get a better price on. on jibij, the tha 187 is 500 preorder, while the Jp is 625, but i would recommend looking at last years if you are interested in the JPs as there is no difference besides graphics.
 
Man, I'm glad you made this thread because I'm interested in both of those skis since I might be moving to Washington.... I hope you're 240lbs so that nomensteven can answer this question for me too; Hah!
 
If you are 240, I would most definately go with Tha 187. The stiffer flex will help you out a lot, and the extra weight will not effect you. In fact, I would look at something longer maybe.
 
Just like I said I am Only 5'10" and 176lbs. I got to winter planty of time so I'll looking now for some on-line store that can ship to europe cuz Jibij can't
 
I had a pair of 187's last year befoore they got stolen. Easily my favorite ski ever they kill it everywhere. Nice and light and badass so fucking fun in powder. I'd def reccommend them over the JP vs Julien for an all around ski. I have the JP this season and i've only skied them once but they seem very fun aswell. Also a light ski but i dont think they are as versitile as the 187. I'm def picking up another pair of 187s this season, they are badass and graphics this year are dope. You really cant go wroing with either ski but from my personal experience the 187 is the shit......!!!!!
 
hey you have narrowed it down to, in my opinion, the best two contenders in the realm of fat skis. the jp is sick, really light, the raised tail is a definite plus and i like how the ski feels alive when you ride it. i'm 6'2' 180 by the way so you know where my opinion is coming from. having ridden a couple different versions of the "tha 187's" i feel like they are more of a tank ski and better all around. i know that nick greener won the big mountain comp on them (i don't know anything about greener, style wise or personally) but that might prove their worth in that department. rory silva won mt. hood's vegetate this winter on a pair of "187's"(60 foot table to big qp), and rocked all last season and into the summer, the majority of his segment this coming fall with us(inf media) and filthy rich productions are aboard tha 187's, if that doesn't demonstrate versatility, i don't know what does.

i'm not sure if you're considering anything but the two, but if you're looking for something softer try the arv(so fun all around) just some input, hopefully it helps. let us know how it turns out.

I was going to suggest that, but seeing as though he is a shorter guy, it might be better to not have so much length. That's all personal preference though, obviously.

Also, I don't know what if you were trying to poke fun at me saying "Tha 187" or not. If you were, I'm sorry, but that is the name of the ski, so you can do a little research before calling me out on something I am right about.

If you weren't trying to make fun of me, I'm not sure what you were trying to get across here.

Yes, but a stiffer and shorter ski can have a similar feel to a longer and softer ski. A taller lighter person can also throw around a ski similar to a shorter, heavier person because of the extra leverage.

A shorter person that is heavy, however, can be better fitted with a shorter and stiffer ski because they will be more over their tips and it will be easier to control in general.

So that was where I was coming from. It is true that it depends on the skier and personal preferance above everything else though.
 
I agree it comes down to personal preference. I got last years JPs. I'm light, so I think a soft ski will be good for me. and getting last years skis is was cheaper. (THA 187s go for $550 I think, I got last year's JPs for $380, and if you know where to look you could probably get them for less)
 
why not? they ship to NZ which is way further away. Im pretty sure they ship internationally..
 
can anyone comment on the jps as compared to the Scott p4? I think the p4 would be the perfect dimensions for myself. I am 5'11" and 170 lbs. I ski pretty powerfully and all over the mtn. I am looking for a pretty powder specific ski since I have scratches for park days. I think I want jps but I have not seen nor played with scott p4s and i like the dimensions on those.

any comments or suggestions?
 
p4's are sick. Dimensions are key.. but the flex is a little different than what most people are probably used to. The tail is softer than the tip. I suppose it helps you achieve float in powder easier..

But jibij team rider jon hartman has been skiing them for awhile now.. and he's definitely stoked on them.
