Did anyone see Kai jones new yearbook 2021 video? Holy that kid is insane like he looked like veteran, these big names better be watching out. That kid could still do an event to, he could go to x-games, olympics, free ride world tour or just do his own thing. He is also already racking up sponsors. Lmk your thoughts and definitely watch the video

Why would anyone dislike this lmao

Kai is the new Pettit, can't wait to see what he does in the next 5-10 years, his clips this year were fucking insane for being a child still.

Ya for sure. Some of the big names better watch out

The petit comparison is valid. The only thing I would love to see is him skiing with more people his age and them making a little movie themselves, not to do with tgr. Now that would be all time imo

Nobody his age is anywhere near his level of skiing, he's literally in the perfect situation for himself to grow into a top tier professional big mountain skier.

True true, but isn’t he given the opportunity to be a better skier than anyone in his age group because he goes to insane locations with one of the biggest production companies (ski wise). I just want to see him with some people his age and then just getting after it.

Yea though da kid is sick

But will Kai transform into a snowboarding hypebeast artist too? ?

Legit, like he’s only ten and rides like a pro eh?

He's NS #1 kid to hate cuz they ain't him, but in reality we should be trying to get him to make a NS account and fuck off with the TGR.

I really don't get this blind hate for people yet some of y'all fuckers support the Fagan twins who are literally douche bags and have a reason to be hated on.

Where's the leave Brittney alone guy when you need him.

NS hates Kai Jones cause it seems like he hasn't worked or earned anything. I mean if any newschoolers grew up in his situation they'd prlly be really good, too. He's definitely incredible, but the environment you grow up in shapes you and hell yeah I'm jealous that I don't get to just ski everyday and not worry about money or probably school at that age.

There's a solid crew of local groms at the Ghee and the Village. He's come through a great freeride program, with a bunch of other rippers of a similar age. It's always fun to spot that Red Bull helmet mixed into the horde of youths here building booters and snagging phone clips of each other. They all put out great insta edits and are just generally fun to watch. So I get what you're saying, but you're not seeing his full season of skiing in those TGR edits. It's not all sleds and death hucks.

Kai's parents are multi millionaires, he never went to a public school and has literally endless funds. If there was anyone who could be called an "industry plant", it's that kid. I know some kids at my local resort who would mop the floor with Kai if they had a rich daddy. Nothing against the kid, just don't pretend like he's the second coming.

I run into their crew all the time in the Greater Yellowstone area and Tim and Todd always have that kind of death-glare, smug look on their faces. They radiate “I’m better than you” energy and it is just not the vibe.

It seems to me a lot of kids under 18 aren't stoked on him as much as older people are which I get. We were all salty high school kids at one point in time. Still not a good attitude to have, but if you're over 18 and are flaming the kid then you just need to grow up honestly. Kai's come from opportunity and is putting it to good use. Day-to-day, he's probably just a kid who wants to go ski with his friends outside of the hollywood lines he skis. He has a support network that wants to put him on the worlds stage and you'd probably want to do the same for your kid given the resources

Have gotten into beef with them several times while working, you try and check their passes and they get all butthurt. I always try and be upbeat while working, cause its fun to pass on the stoke. Like I'll just ask folks if they're having a good day, and basic stuff like that. Tim and Todd are always part of the group of people that don't even acknowledge my presence, and just give vague gestures towards their pass. This is less of a rant about just them, and more about that whole class of people who refuse to acknowledge service workers, but you'd think that people in the industry would have more knowledge/respect of the folks that keep the chairs spinning so they can shred. Besides, its just fuckin rude to not respond when someone asks how your day is going.

lol. Genetics? If you took a random kid and had them raised in Stephs shoes there’s close to a 0% chance they would even play college ball. Steph would probably be in the nba no matter where he grew up. I think this is the opposite of the point you are trying to make.

You're literally describing basically every pro skiers upbringing in the industry. They all come from money whether it's the Henriks of the world or Sean Pettits. Skiing is a rich sport through and through and to reach that level of skiing you have to have parents that can afford camps, training and lessons to keep you riding and progressing 24/7.. In Kai's case you just happen to know who his Dad is via his connection to the industry. Everyone else's parents are just investment bankers and shit like that. Equally as rich just not famous in some way

Think about your average professional skier, do you think LJ Strenio or any of those boys came from money? No, they're lower middle class east coast kids who went to rail jam and got noticed. There are large swaths of this film industry that are nepotistic, and unless you open your parents wallet, the only chance you've got is to go to a competition or start an independent project like Child Labor. Skiing gets a bad rap as the rich persons sport, but that's just the tourists and weekend warriors. The people skiing every day and pushing the envelope are making $12/hr bartending.

Kinda like lax. I mean everyone calls it a rich boy sport but I mean there are people who don’t have nice cars and bugs house that are on my team. But skier does take a lot of Money if you want to take it far and get proper training and gear

Dude this is not true at all. Not trying to be too dickish but this just comes off as detached from reality. Hell half the kids on this site and the "local" rippers being described are well off kids that come from money. Be honest with yourself. If you don't HAVE to work to survive you're well off. Do you really think the kids from child labor ski all winter long stacking footage off a minimum wage job and a Vishnu sponsorship? Get real dude. Also competitions cost money to enter and to travel to. I can count on one hand the number of riders I know that are pro level and blue collar. It just doesn't happen. Rich kids working blue collar jobs definitely doesn't count. Rich kids pretending to be broke and claiming lower middle class is just the new way for white kids to duck being called privileged. It's okay to have Mom and Dad's help just don't pretend it's not happening

Not true in the slightest, I encourage you to gain a little perspective. The poorest people on the planet currently, sub Saharan Africa, are more wealthy than the upper middle class British citizen in 1970. If you are an American, and aren't literally living on the street, you are more well off than almost any human has ever been. Period. The end. Your comment was strangely political, maybe let that marinate. Good vibes though, I disagree but I don't want to be a dick

"Gain a little perspective." Dude... Your comment doesn't even address what we're talking about. And if you think rich kids playing poor is political I don't even know what to say to that. Rich white kids playing poor is what goes on in "dirtbag" and "ski bum" culture. It's not political in any way. Hell even look at "festival" culture and the music scene. It's very similar. Like I said, it's okay to have Mom and Dad's help financially just don't pretend it's not happening

Relax, save the arguing for reddit. Kai Jones is a rich boi, and I don't respect his skill the same way I respect the homeroots guys. Sorry you're so angry about that.

I'm saying that Kai's situation of having rich parents isn't rare for pro skiers and is more the status quo so it's dumb to hate. Garlic Daddy is saying that he doesn't like the kid because he thinks all his ski heros are poor because people from war torn sub Saharan Africa today are somehow richer than the upper middle class of Great Britain in the 1970s. It's like comparing apples to bullshit

Ok that makes more sense. Thank you, it sounded to the same to my one brain cell and I got lost in the argument.

I would say most pros have enough money to get special training and there parents can provide that in many different ways. Like camps, Woodward, ski teams, etc. but I would think most people would not all have that. Like the one dude said sometimes they just get noticed. But I think that id rare and more pros have money than don’t. If e makes sense.

Most Definitely. And I love all the independent content coming out like strictly, child labor, carnage, and what not. They're changing and decentralizing the film side of the ski industry for the better. I'm not gonna act like those guys didn't also come from money though and have parents who helped them get where they are almost every step of the way. And It's not even an issue to get help from your parents lol Having parents who have the money to help and support their kids that they love is not a bad thing at all. It's just naive to think only Kai has a rich Dad who funds his skiing because it seems to be "flaunted" in people's faces seeing him in tgr flicks. The "homegrown" pros just don't have that level of mainstream recognition so they come across as coming from more humble beginnings

Everything Kai has in life is because of TGR. His family is TGR. I'm sure there will be some other sponsor projects or co-labs. But I doubt he just peace's out because some kids on Newschoolers don't like him. This kid is living the best life, because his family built something from nothing. For some reason people love to hate on that kind of thing.

I'm not hating on him, thats just what happens with child prodigies. They get pressured to do crazy shit, and the pressure/expectations from themselves, family and friends fucks them up, and they end up being normal people (sometimes with an expensive therapist) by adulthood. Having known Todd, I bet the pressure from his family is pretty high, and he's gonna start to get tired of skiing.

you shouldve posted this on tgr where everyone can circle jerk on kai jones in unison compared to bringing it here where people are just gonna shit on him and you for being Todd's son

I've chatted to all of them and got the exact opposed vide than you. They all seem stoked to be doing what they are and have a real laid back/youthful attitude towards skiing.

Are you sure you didn't just catch them at an award moment? Or were you maybe touchering them a little when they were simply trying to get on a lift?

Also why bring up negative opinions towards Kai? That's really not cool. Pro skiers are very different to Hollywood movie stars.

I dont know any of them but I'm always saying hi to lifties I know, or don't know. Even if I was doing 150+ day seasons I'd be super happy to see them. They are the caretakers and operators of the magical teleportation device that makes me the happiest person in the world and deserve respect and kudos.
