TFJ Riders in Åre...Critique?

Here's a recent edit I made that turned out pretty dope, but my main concern while filming was that I constantly switched lenses between 18-105mm & 10,5mm. 18-105mm enhances the glidecam look, (I am using a dyi glidecam) but it can get a bit twitchy at high speeds. While the 10,5mm gives a more "flowy" feel but you have to be so damn close which can be hard on the jumps.

As far as color grading I didn't do much exept for using a little more vivid color preset in camera, I know you're not supposed to do that but i'm not a real filmer and only makes a couple of edits a year so it becomes easier that way.

If you have any pointers just fire away.

And off course best viewed in HD & remember to crank up you sound system!

To be completely honest I don't know that much about video editing, so take what I have to say with a grain of salt. I really loved this edit, if I didn't like it I wouldn't have commented because I wouldn't have know how to give pointers on what to do better. The second I heard the Ellie Goulding- Lights beat come in I knew I was either going to love this edit or hate it. I know you probably shouldn't be using the basic Vivid setting but if thats what you choose to do and your edits look solid with just that then why not use it? Just wanted to say great job and I look foreward to more edits by you. I'm gonna step out of the way and let people who know a little more about editing tell you what needs to be done better.

1. Way too long. That edit could have been 3-4 minutes and been way more interesting to watch, had to start skipping because i was getting bored. not a harsh comment, just a real one. Its way easier to watch an 8 minute edit of people you know for sure.

2. Color was inconsistant, but you said you didn't do any color correction so i wont step on that.

3. Song choice not to my liking, at all. some girl singin to electro and lil wayne are probably two of the worst choices you could have made, IMO

4. A lot of the shots were shakey even with the DIY glide cam and that is why i recommend sacking up and spending the money on a real one, they're a very balanced machine and making your own is tough.

5. I noticed in the beginning a few shots that were quite soft, even if its a sick trick, cut those shots.

6. Editing overall was fine, the some cuts were interesting, make sure when you cut someone that they're not just coming off the end of a rail or landing after a trick, unless you have to. I think cutting at 1/3-2/3 of the trick and then cutting to the 2/3-3/3 of the trick in the next shot looks the best.

First off i really liked it. There was a lot of super sick skiing and really good filming. You could definitely have made that a 2 or 3 minute edit though by just keeping the banger shots and the ones that where filmed very well. Also there was quite a bit of background noise that could have been completely muted throughout the edit. That guy on the nordica's in the black had sick style.

this. definitely noticed it a lot, probably the only critique i would have besides that it was a little on the long side

thats cool. If your doing it on purpose for a reason then thats cool. I just wasnt sure if you had forgotten to mute it or something. That park looks amazing
