Teton Gravity Research

it seems like those movies are now 90% heli skiing. which is sick but probably something i will never do, so it doesn't get me as excited as a banger inbounds edit or comp run

I love that Jackson Hole intro segment to Re:Session. Shit like that gets me more stoked than endless clips of AK spine walls.

Been trying to sign up for that forum for years but end up in a circle of reentering passwords username and bs.

Agreed, and does it seem almost every ski film now is based in the same areas? Like Wyoming and the alps or something like that?

Boomer gravity research is everything that is wrong with the sport. Look at those vail pictures from last week and that is those clowns in a nutshell they just own touring gear.

I tried it, what a waste of time. Bunch of entitled boomers that have never worked in any part of the ski world but yet think they understand it completely.

NS should buy the BoomerGravityResearch.com domain and have it redirect to here. Start a massive sticker campaign and get tons of traffic.

Their buy/sell seems to have a bit more stuff than Newschoolers, but I also haven’t been on this platform for very long.

The tgr forum community has massive boners for incredibly long skis made by a very select group of brands. If you don’t have a quiver of 100 praxis skis that are 195cm or longer you will be talked down upon.

as far as tgr the business goes, having lived in jackson for awhile now, they are a total joke. They pray on college kids who think tgr is cool, give them un paid internships that require them to live in a town that’s expensive as hell and give them a work load thats far greater than an intern should have. If you are one of the few chosen interns who gets along and parties hard with the tgr crew you get offered a salaried job for less than $35 grand a year and are expected to work a significant amount of overtime. I’m sure some people who have worked for them have enjoyed it but everyone I know who doesn’t have their parents paying rent has quit working there in less than a year. /end rant.

Damn, I only have 194s

I haven't watched a TGR movie in 15 years.

the old ones were great same with MSP. b4 Level1 & PBP came into their own.

am I reading correctly or does it now cost 50 bones a year to use their forum? Or are people who have joined before this fee was implemented grandfathered in and can use it for free. I may have accidentally joined years ago and not relized it. Any insight on this issue would be appreciated.

The forums are full of douchebags. Their films are good, if repetitive, and could use some newer music. In terms of Alaska heli-skiing, they tackle some insane lines.

Am I the only one who gets a bit bored watching the more modern TGR content?

The skiing is usually still great, but the annual movies have been so cookie cutter the last few years. I have a lot of respect for TGR and what they've done for skiing but it feels like they've switched to the Warren Miller Entertainment business model. Collect all your personal data whenever possible then sell it to sponsors, drop clickbait videos to drive up views and site traffic, and produce G-rated movies that the whole family can enjoy. Every now and again they drop some great content, but it seems like they're bored of making flagship ski movies and just trying to squeeze as much profit from them at this point.

Hopefully they can mix it up and release another groundbreaking movie soon. Really tough to do that on a consistent basis.

Well they have gone bankrupt a couple times, now they have some finance bro investors who are probably looking to make it more profitable and don’t care about appealing to the hardcore ski audience.

but I agree the movies usually each have one or two pretty sick segments and then a bunch of filler that isn’t that great.

There was a period where they really pushed things - a 3D park segment shot on dual RED cameras at Stevens Pass, zip lining cameras across pillow lines, inventive park setups with crazy looking features... and now its all just ski touring and straight lining spine walls. I was a big fan of their cinematic style, but for a while now it and the skiing has been very meh.

Thxs man. [tag=252953]@ColoradoDogfart[/tag] is making some. If you want them dm him

Love to hate on the old tgr dads but tgr in Bozeman is pretty sick. Haven't seen a single boomer in the store everyone there is super chill. They are sponsoring local shredders too which is dope. Their movies are aight the skiing is hella good but it feels a bit cheesy because of they way they do like a story line and they all feel the same.
